At 5'10" I actually prefer 650c's for tri and other specific applications (track, a road bike for climbing that will be hitting the road in a few weeks). Though mine are all custom built.

A local shop I worked for part time (which is no longer in business) a few years back would routinely LIE to customers about the pros/cons of 650c wheels, steering them away from the smaller (and in most cases better suited) size. What it really came down to, though, was they just didn't want to deal with another few SKUs, and didn't sell a brand that utilized 650c's. Funny, though, with MTBs they had no problem with 650b's...
