2019 New Wetsuits/Swimskins Thread

Any equivalent of "Wetsuit Rumor" floating out there for new updates from any wetsuit or skimskin manufacturer in 2019?

I know B70 had a 2018 update & they are on a 2 year cycle. Off years I think I heard they update the swimskins with tweaks alternating years. Any other info if you reps or pros with wetsuit companies are testing anything for 2019?

2019 will see a full neoprene update from Aqua Sphere. We are usually on a 2 year cycle that we got off for a year, but will be back on for the future.

There are some major improvements in the top of the line Phantom 2 wetsuit. The key attributes in the Phantom 2 are seen through all models. This includes our Bio-Stretch Zone that frees up your range of motion and reduces restriction in the shoulders.

There will be some additions to our offering in 2019 that I can't quite announce yet, but there will be a new wetsuit model for an emerging sport and a new suit for the pool.

One line that I'm not sure many here are aware of is our Aqua Skin line. These are 1-2mm wetsuits that help to take the edge off of a cold pool, or help to keep you warm when it's just barely too cold in the ocean to go without a wetsuit (or for really long swims). This line gets an update for 2019.

We introduced the Phantom Speedsuit in Kona last year. This suit is moving forward in 2019.

I'm happy to answer any questions that anybody might have, but I can't give it all away.

Good stuff. So Aqua Sphere is tossing its hat into the Swim Run sport...very cool.
Funny, I went to Blue Seventy, HUUB & Roka reps about Swim Run a couple years before it blew up and emerged early on. Asked them each if they'd work with me to get a suit ready for Otillo in Sweden, it was going to really catch on. I was all but laughed at when I told them they should jump on it early to get ahead of the game. I heard excuses from each one as to why they would never get into it or it wouldn't be big, or resources etc. You know, crap excuses. I would help with the actual R & D (and one of them at the time was a sponsor!)

They are all late to the game. Blue Seventy has one now, but that could have been YEARS ago and they'd already have several iterations and advancements. Sad nobody listened & are behind the 8 ball in Swim Run tech now...the Euros have the market on the cutting edge of Swim Run suits now. Oh well...their loss.

Hey Rocky, you got me thinking it might be time to do some testing again. I did a series about 6 years ago, would be fun to see if much if anything has changed as far as speed. For sure the products would have changed, but like running shoes, perhaps it is just change for change sake..

Here was number 1!

Local shop had all Arena products on sale including wetsuits. $550 CAD including taxes. The size range is not as varied as the traditional tri brands. I tried a medium and a large and settled on the large and have swam in it twice (once in the pool to confirm it was the right fight and this morning at our AG Worlds qualifying race). So far so good. The carbon lined parts don't stretch like most suits and hold good compression but the upper chest, shoulders and arms are flexible. It swims similar to my HUUB 4:4 suit, it looked like every single swimmer at European Open Water Championships in 2018 had this suit with the pull string cut off.

How did you Worlds Qualifying Event go? Are you in for next year when the worlds are on the same course?

Great looking new wetsuit from Kiwami. It looks awesome and hope to get one soon. I know they spent a few years in development and knowing the founders, I'm sure it will be very nice.
