I'm working on the details of my 2020 race calendar and am thinking about the duathlon nationals champs in Tuscaloosa, AL. So, I was looking at the results from 2019 here. The fastest time in M60-64 was 27:53. Now, that's the *total* time with, approximately, an 8 min run1, a 12.5 min bike and a 6 min run2. Those are not paces - those are total times. So, what happened there? The course must have been super short - like a mile or less for the runs and, what, a 4 mile bike course? Huh? Any insight appreciated.

Course was shortened due to terrible weather from what I remember reading.

It was shortened to a super duper sprint to get the race in during a small break in the thunderstorms.

Phew - thanks for the responses. Glad that I'm not aiming for an 8 min 5k!
