Carl,

I have a fit question for you. Here are my measurements:

Pad Reach 445mm
Pad Stack 630mm
Base Bar Stack 585 mm

So according to the chart I'm in between sizes and can ride a small with a the high-far stem and 15mm spacer or the Medium frame with the medium-near stem and 15mm spacer. Will one over the other be more aerodynamic? The smaller frame with a higher stem or a medium frame with a lower stem?

Thanks.

I'd go with the Medium on the grounds that you'll be in the heart of the adjustment range vs out near one of the edges. That and a small/high-far combo with your coordinates might be a little twitchy handling vs the medium setup. Don't have a good handle on which one would be more aero...haven't ever tried that particular comparison in the tunnel. We did run different setups with the same pad stack on the same size frame (medium), and flat stem/high monospacer vs high stem/low monospacer was a wash with Manny aboard.

Carl you're so helpful that by far the easiest way to find answers to our stupid questions is to come here. So first of all thanks so much for that! My question is really small: do you know where I can get more of those frame plugs that cover the holes for the water bottle bolts? I've lost a couple (with some help) and would love to replace them. Thanks again!

will have to ask carl that question, but why not go with the trek 7.5 instead of the 7 if your going to change the front set-up? The expense of those two bars may outweigh any $$ advantage of the 7

Hi, because in spain 7.5 is 1200$ more expensive than 7.0 and i have a good discount on that one..

It's similar price difference elsewhere, but a good aerobar is again ~$800 extra.

If memory serves, the 7.0 comes with the Race bullhorns, which have a round cross-section end to end. The next bar in the Bontrager line would be the Race Lite Aero, still aluminum (i.e. affordable) but with an aero cross-section between the grips and the stem clamp.

Trying to make a size prediction based on height and inseam is tough...neither of those tell me anything about where your armpads should be, and that's where to start. You could probably fit on either of those bikes. The large might be more appropriate, but that's only a guess. If you've never had a tri fit before and your dealer offers fit services, it is probably $ well spent.

Thanks Carl, im going to check my current tri bike sizes!

For aerobar i think on Zipp aluminia, probably a good option $/aero.

you already have a tri bike? then here's what you need (in order to use the SC size chart)

-measure from

A) ground to BB
B)ground to top of pad

subtract A from B, this is pad stack

-with bike backed against a wall, measure

C) wall to BB
D) wall to center of pad

subtract C from D, this is pad reach

Carl,
I am sure this has been asked a million times, but what is the spacing between the S-Bend bars?

Is there a way to order parts online or do I have to go through my dealer?

We work through our dealers...some of whom have online ordering (usually pretty obvious on their website if they do), though not for all products.

Do you know if there are other aerobar pad holders that will fit the bars? I broke one of mine and it's a 2-3 month backorder. I moved the holder so it still works, but I'd like to be able to get it back to where it usually is.

PN 437029 is the 2014 SC pad holder and it's in stock...420488 is the older version (which also fits) and that's the one that's sold out.

SC 7.0 owners also running a flat stem....how many spacers have you got underneath and which bars are you running? I understand getting the front brake to work ok gets more tricky as the gap for the cable is reduced.

Hi again!

This are muy current sizes:

Pad stack: 59,5cm
Pad reach: 48cm
Saddle (take at surface of ir) bb center: 76,5cm
Saddle pad stack: 14,5cm

I think better option is an L, i like no spacers om the stem :)
