2014 Felt IA FRD
Felt Bicycles has officially introduced the new triathlon platform the "IA" and our all new AR road bike. Thanks for your PM and emails, if possible, please post your questions here instead of privately if they are general in nature (when, how much, etc...) so this thread can become an FAQ of sorts.

Of course there are resources available here:

Anything going to be available other than a frameset or top model build?

I don't think my wife is in for $14k, but I'll consider testing out the geometry to see if I can make it work with DA2/DA3 comparable price range.

wonder why Felt prices are so hign? it was the same with the latest DA frame...comparable aero performing products were quite a bit cheaper. assuming perhaps they are alot smaller than specialied, giant, trek etc so dont have quite the same economies of scale? a pity i really like it but waaaaaay too costly IMO.

^ i will also add felt's more entry level products are good vfm e.g. i bought a b12 in 2009 and it was excellent, but *relatively speaking* their top end stuff is pricier than many competitors IMO

Any chance of combining the three threads on the new Felt 2014 bikes?

And, isn't this really an 'official' notice that they will be officially announcing the bikes on the 28th of August?

Looks like a winner to me.... Clearly in the same league as new Speed Concept and Shiv.

Pros a getting their bikes now for 70.3 Worlds, Kona, etc...
Consumer versions should start to arrive in the fall starting with the 54cm size.

There will be 3 versions to start, all IA FRD level products. The bike that is circulating online now is the $14,000 option, there will be a frameset as well as a Dura-Ace Di2 equipped bike with an intermediate build similar to the DA2.

Will the build similar to the DA2 come in with similar pricing to the DA2, or can we expect a premium on the IA over the DA?

Is it only compatible with DI2 drivetrains? Will you have the option to get a traditional mechanical group on the frame?

Also had a question about the new seat clamp. Is there a wedge inside the seatpost, similar ideal to the old quill stems that push out instead of clamping around? Will the seat post come in multiple lengths, or can you cut the post? Hard to tell how it works from the limited pictures online. Looks like the new AR will use the same post design.

The TeXtreme material used for the frame, fork and seatpost along with the new integrated brakes and other features will see a 20-30% increase from the DA2. Unlike the DA2 which uses a more affordable material (lay up) than the DA1, all of the IA models in 2014 will have the same grade or level of carbon. The technology used in the TeXtreme spread tow fabric from Oxeon alone is worthy of a separate thread. IA FRD options will likely be $14,000 for full 9070 Di2 with MAVIC's CXR80, under $10k for 9070 Di2 and our new 58mm/72mm TTR1 carbon clincher wheels with Reynolds' new rim shape, and ~$5k for the frameset.

SuperDave: I'm reading there are changes already. Is that little storage pocket getting covered up?

From the online articles (TriRig/Competitor.com) it has integrated brakes similar to the Speed Concept/Tririg Omega. Not hydraulic. Possibly easier to adjust for normal/wide rim widths.

Interestingly enough, specialized is specing Maguras on the 2014 Sworks Shiv. Via what appears to be some sort of dual post to single post adapter.

Felt has TT/Tri & road offering across all price points. This is billed as the spare-no-expense top end of the market. They still offer the DA series, B series, and one S model.

Dave-
Can you elaborate on this quote from triathlon.competitor.com

Quote:
When Felt showed the IA to the media, it included an elaborate integrated storage and hydration system that has since been scrapped. The display bike had a single bottle mount on the seat tube. As of now, these bolts are the only storage option built into the bike.
