Another textbook ride by DQS. Asgreen has some kind of crazy motor.

Either MvdP wasn’t as sharp or the rest of the guys in chase group came up a level, notably he couldn’t dislodge them. He and WvA have a full taste of the Sagan treatment.

Edit: 305/352 for MvdP https://www.strava.com/activities/5014865034 Can’t imagine what Asgeen’s numbers were.

I love how this is a weekday training ride for him essentially. No rest or taper, but racing to build form.

I desperately hope we get a Roubaix, but settling for our Flandrian high holy days works too.

Spent an hour with the physio struggling to do exercises today...its very much a couple of steps forward and then back type of thing. I was on the trainer for 30 minutes and 160ish watts hurt. I just keep reminding myself this takes time.

Strakhov on the attack.
No nicknames come to mind. None at all.

Its been 2 years now since my high water mark. I did this on a cold winter day; one of those days where the legs and lungs just went. I do wonder if I'll see them again. I have no doubt I will be strong again, but as time passes I do have doubt that I'll return to peak form.

Keep the faith. Unless you're of an advanced age (45+) you can get it or most of it back. Aging is the one hurdle you can't get over.

Sagan wins. That's cool.

It seems like solid winds predicted for tomorrow. Will see a bunch of mini races for positioning. Again, I still think DQS plays their game better when JA not there. We'll see how and who they slingshot around the course.

Watched E3 this AM. Marco Haller had a monster day. Giving him a nod.

Wout, Lampaert, Philipsen
Haller, Kung

Might get quite attritional

ETA; i like the pick of KĂĽng. Proper hard man for the bad conditions.

Edit 2:
WvA Senechal Matthews
Ballerini and Trentin

G-W:

WvA, Trentin, Stybar

Baller, Matthews

Like the added nastiness to the final circuit in Barcelona down in Catalunya. Could be in for a bunch of great racing tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words. We are glad that or musings and bantering keep folks amused :)

Also, one reason why I would really hate to see the IAB getting banned

Since my WC pick came home (and you pictured), sensations are good.
Lampaert, Naesen, Politt
WC: Baller-ini, Degenkobble

Having a hard time leaving Naesen off the podium, only room for 3 up there. Could also see Wout blowing a gasket as he’s got a lot of race miles in his legs over the past few weeks.

Bummer, bet you’re right. Also realized WvA isn’t in the spirit of a wildcard. So he’s benched for Degenkobble to come off top rope, and Mad Dog Naesen on podium.

...

Trek is out. That's a bummer. And I really, truly hope that Mads' performance issues on Friday were completely unrelated.

Classic Thomas de Tank today.

Christophe Laporte has an epic Voeckler-esque pain face for the camera. He better keep it up because I need him to get Demare in the front group.
