Savage opening stages at the Vuelta.

Movistar got the teamwork right! No one chased down Soler. :)
What was Soler saying on his radio in the last kilometer?

With Valverde in there it's always touch-and-go.

Not sure what he was saying, but would hope in his earpiece they were yelling, "Keep pedaling! You're giving back seconds you just killed yourself to get on the way to the win". I know he isn't their main card for GC, but the guy is now around a minute off the lead in the top 10. Those seconds lost for not pedaling to the line cost him 1-2 places (10th instead of 8th) at this point. Brilliant ride and fight, but just finish those last 100 yds before celebrating like the group of other contenders behind you sprinting for seconds.

Guess Ineos left the "pretend to give a shit" clause out of Froomie's contract.

Holy s***, a literal “pick me up”. Plopped Ewan on the handlebar. Must made steering a bit odd, even more so given the horrendously windy condition.

Also, MvdP crashed into a ditch at 3 days De Panne.

Wilco just blew an amp.
Fly Hindley needs to smash it now.

Check that, great fight back by Wilco. Thought he was crushed.
Sunweb is a tight squad.

So who picked Hindley, TGH and Bilbao to be fighting for the Giro podium? What an oddball race.

Meanwhile: over in Spain Movistar tries to split peloton in crosswinds. DQS crash into each other laughing hard.

That dude is harder than woodpecker lips. How many crashes and injuries can you accumulate in a few seasons and keep coming back and fighting for it?

I have to admit and for no apparent rational reason, I was totally gutted when he hit the tarmac on that last corner at L-B-L in 2014....dude is a hard man.

Double letter doping strikes again!

Matteo Spreafico caught with ostarine. I wonder if he will blame it on a tainted salt supplement.

Saw that. Better than nothing but didn’t seem like the big turn the announcers made it out to be.

Dan Martin was emotional pre race. “Been a long time since I’ve won a race.” Good on him. Tough guy.

Yeah, I thought he went about 10 seconds too early *again*, but he just wasn't going to let anyone by him this time.

Only then to crash out in the first stage of that year's Giro

I was really glad for him when he won Lombardia that year. Gutsy performance.

Was even more thrilled when he shed Valverde to win LBL in 2013.

Frankly, any time Valverde loses, it's a win for cycling.
