UAE's team is enigmatic... on paper going in it looked like the best supporting cast Taddy's had. But they haven't looked good at all. The finale today with Majka and McNulty has been their only showing. Not sure if everyone's just keeping their powder dry but Taddy running out of domestiques on a regular basis could become a thing in the mountains. JV and Ineos might have a shot if they isolate him and keep firing their various GC guys up the road.

Doesn’t seem to matter to Pogacar. Yesterday was an extremely tough day with the average speed high and the constant chasing down of early attacks, yet he still sprinted at a level a sprinter would have struggled to match, all the while finishing looking like he’d been out for an easy Sunday morning club spin.

Some riders suffer from no support, he seems to thrive from it. Unless he has a mechanical or crash then it’s hard to see him being beat. His luck with mechanicals, and his bike handling from his MTB days make these incidents unlikely too.

Just hope there is nothing untoward in his performance. He’ll rewrite the record books in every type of race and having to expunge the record he’ll end up with would be a bigger blow for cycling than Lance.

It’d sure be more compelling for someone to put up a GC challenge, but who? Vingegaardner was very game in 3rd week last year and looks to be the best candidate.

Tomorrow should be telling.

OK, so I learned that the "Super" part in La Super Planche des Belles Filles, means the extra gravel section at the top vs. "regular" Planche

In case anyone else was wondering

Today should be interesting. Someone is going to do this climb under 20 minutes and that would require 6.5 w/kg. I think a few guys are going to go 19:xx.

Used to be cobbles, was known as La Super Fantastique.

I think we're going to see a Kam Jam out of the break.

What is the deal with the UAE bikes? Most of the team has changed bikes a couple times already.

What's going on with UAE's Colnagos? Slipping seat post?

It seems like every time they deal with this they are taking an Allen key to the seat post. It definitely seems like a slipping seat post. This is a new prototype Colnago FYI.

I'm really late in replying to this, but damn that is perfect.

Nairo (and company) have killed it in the crosswinds the past few years.

I was wrong about one thing: Pog OR Wout will get the stage win record. That's #8.

Vingegaardener must be wondering what in the world he has to do to beat him.

Don't lead out Pog

That was a bit fatalistic to watch, somehow you just knew that Pog had a bit extra to kick to the finish.

Also, damn, poor Kamna

Did Kirby say, "This stage is a bit of a bowl of hats?" If so, anyone know what exactly that means?

I said the following after the Arenberg stage:

Also what the heck was Paret-Peintre doing staying with the main pack till the end.

Well, that was ignorant of me expecting APP to drop back for O'Connor. APP finished far ahead of O'Connor today and sits 14th in GC, best for AG2R. I should have known as he finished 15th last year. He came in as AG2R number two guy, and is now their leader. I'd never noticed him before.

Today is the first day in online history someone has admitted an error! ;)

Pog and Vin did this in 19:40ish I think. 6.5 w/kg

So Armstrong doing the claimed magical 7 w/kg of that era would have put how much time into them on this climb?

I'd be curious to see the data from an athlete over three weeks.

Bardet, GT, Waiting For, Rog. Great rides.
This is so early. That could have been an even smaller group.

GT has the look.

T Po punked Vinegar. The look. He's cold blooded. Nice, but not that nice.

Venga couldn't even keep his bike upright after he crossed the line, collapsed against a barrier. T-Po looked ready to make after party.
