Tronchon rode a hell of a good ride to out "sprint" Sivakov in Burgos. I don't know what the GC contenders were thinking. Ineos nailed their plan to perfection and the rest of the teams decided to spend the remaining time in a woeful state of poor racing. And Superman might get provisionally re-suspended from Astana for "shitty descending."
And you're right, that was a miserable chase effort. Bora and EF were *trying*, but not really working together.

If cycling was all 50 minute climbs at altitude + bare knuckle boxing he would win them all. Technical descents? Not so much.
Here is something interesting from the Burgos Stage 2 road book. They call out the danger, but use the term "Precaucion paso elevado" which in my limited understanding indicated raised overpass or walkway. Wouldn't "bando frenado" or "banda rugosa" better indicate this danger? Anyone know the local vernacular in that part of the world?
No doubt, many teams did not seem to have reconned this course, some knew and some kept up because the race was on and people are (almost) dying to try to grab some points.

Has it been worth watching? I haven't turned it on.
Wierlifts has an article citing both Dekker and the Burgos race organizers as well as a link to the UCI rules for course organizers for those who want to see how sprints are supposed to be laid out.

For those of you not yet aware, UCI whipped out its ban hammer and struck-off Vos for doing the invisible aerobar (for 3 seconds).

I think the commenters on that article (including our very own @trail) make some cogent points, but needless to say, UCI is just making s*** up as things go, as opposed to having any guidelines...

When a rider very quickly corrects herself (as in Vos), and it was unlikely to have any material effect on the outcome, why DQ? When you've been a pro forever like Vos, and you're on your limit, it's very easy for muscle memory to take over.
And, yes, I was making light of Jens Dekker bringing the issue up on social media apparently *before* the conclusion of the race. While I appreciate Jens pointing out the UCI has painted itself into a corner by not giving officials discretion, I personally would not want to be the one who (maybe) brought the 3 seconds to the attention of the UCI. He could have waited until an hour after the race.

Damn. I had that on in the background as I did chores around the house. I never heard or even saw it until this decision. That is fairly disappointing.
I'm curious if that was a pro about to take their first win if the ruling would have been the same.

It looks like Tiesj Benoot is out for the rest of the season after getting assaulted by a deadly vehicular weapon in Livigno. Multiple broken bones and other lacerations.

Lance & Anna Hansen finally got married, in France
I was following his plane on a flight app [Reg. "N7LA"] from Aspen > Wisconsin > Newfoundland > Iceland > London > Paris > Marseilles > Nice, wondering 'where the fuck are they going? And why? It's way to early for La Vuelta, and they went passed it, anyway'

He needs to get a plane with more range. That's a lot of stops between Aspen and France.

Lance is Lance; he's always BEEN Lance, and he's always gonna BE Lance
