Such a Sagan hater :)

I have a feeling we will have a race some what similar to last year:

Sagan, GVA, Alaphillipe

Cav and Theuns

Kiwato had to seriously dig this last week and i think he will pay a price. If its a pure sprint Demare is the most dangerous.

I am going to go long and guess that the race comes down to a field sprint this year because Sagan is neutralized by everyone riding against him. I would like Groenwagen (no idea how to spell it) but I guess he isn't riding. So my real WAG is going be Corbelli or Modolo. Total 1000-1 odds but what the heck.

it's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring, really

seeing Sagan taking off his warmers and overshoes was fun though

eta: watching futbol fullbacks passing the ball backwards to the goalie and vice versa would be more interesting than what's going on right now

it hasn't been dynamic for a long time; last time was 2013

this might suit Griepel, whom I think all of us overlooked

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot

Nibali FTW!

The entire event (IM) is like "death by 1000 cuts" and the best race is minimizing all those cuts and losing less blood than the other guy. - Dev

three days ago i asked myself, "i wonder why Nibs races here?". just honoring the home crowd i guess.

I'm back! Sort of. Glad I missed most of the race- sounded boring. Good for Nibs for taking a chance and making it stick. Smart trick they pulled as a team on the Poggio. Well played.

Great race by Nibali, he read the race well and took a chance. Sagan or Kiwato should have attacked right after he went up the road. All they ended up doing was working to close the gap and lead out the other sprinters.

as @Carl Spackler said; dude sure has panache

can't think of the last grand tour winner to have won a non-climbing monument. Perhaps Jalabert? Or does it have to go back all the way to Kelly?

that descent would have made Kelly proud; chapeau

That was amazing. I agree - when Nibali went, there seemed to be a let-up and a lot of looking around for too long from all the other favorites. They let him get 12 - 13 sec. up the road, and clearly that was enough for him to stay away.

The pace had been relatively "slow" to that point. I would have thought Sagan, or someone would have been straight-on the wheel when Nibali went. Burghardt had gone on the attack early on the Poggip, but I sensed that was a set-up move for Sagan to either sit on wheels while others chased burghardt down or launch his own attack as a counter-move when Burghardt was absorbed - but it never happened. Nibali, upset all those other plans.

Massive Chapeau! I'm sure all of Italy is in an uproar right now!

Cavendish involved in an absolutely horrible crash just before the foot of the Poggio - straight on into a road standard and a full flip in the air before landing! I hope he's OK. What bad luck for him this year so far. Good grief! It was remarkable that he was still there at the base of the Poggio.
