I may be away so I am throwing in provisional picks now. no brave moves here.

Demare
Sagan
Kittel

Gilbert
WISNIOWSKI

i am ditching Ewan for a real wild card. i think he's gonna hide in his teammate's shadow and then get lost sailing up the road.
you heard it here first.

Such a Sagan hater :)

I have a feeling we will have a race some what similar to last year:

Sagan, GVA, Alaphillipe

Cav and Theuns

Kiwato had to seriously dig this last week and i think he will pay a price. If its a pure sprint Demare is the most dangerous.

I like the Greoner. Bummer that he’s out. And I think Kristoff has been riding well. Not quite sure why I think that but..... He could be in it.

Kristoff hasn’t put together a run like 14-15 in a bit but he does seem to be going well and knows what it takes to win this one.

A little under 6 months ago he was beaten by bike throw by Sagan in Bergen. So, I'm including him.

GvA is getting overlooked big time. I wonder if there is trouble in BMC paradise or if he's been sandbagging and/or riding into MSR and Flanders shape.

Viviani won't have to do any work until or unless there's a bunch sprint. QS is loaded, Gilbert and Alaphillipe will attack along with others on the Poggio. Gilbert maybe before with his long range stuff.

Burghardt and others (Sky) will be smashing it from way out to make it hard as hell. Oss will be waiting to open it up for PS.

Kwiat will be fresh. I don't the work he's been doing will have sapped him.

Picks:

Kristoff
Sagan
Kwiat

Viviani, Matthews

you are indeed correct; looked again, and he's not there

as for predictions, just pick one for the hell of it, and you can just drop the points; i've always done horribly picking this race.

Looks like it will be wet and cool for the start in Milan. Rain in the forecast.

Supposed to be partly cloudy by the time they get to the coast and San Remo.

High temperatures for the day 51F.

Should be a good one. Always a bit of a roll of the dice until they hit the Poggio - and then craziness and anything can happen from that point on.

Sagan, in pre-race interviews as always, is keeping his cards close to the chest, other than being clearly miffed last year, that he did most of the work, then was narrowly beat in the end. But he also knows, that's bike racing, and does not get too worked up about it. It's really his one "weakness", if you can call it that, similar to when Cancellara was at his best, both Sagan and Cancellara get heavily marked and are often the ones, who act first, do the bulk work in the finale, that really animates it all, and then end up losing but just barely.

For both, thankfully, just going along for the ride, is not part of their character, and the whole of professional bike racing is the better for it.

I agree with Fleck, I usually look for the last hour. however, with some very strong wild cards looking to take flyers, and the heavy favs like Sagan having loaded teams, there could be some strong yin and yang.
