(Yet another) Cervelo question - about forks
Quote | Reply
What fork is on this R3: http://www.cervelo.com/reviews/R3_updated.jpg ?

I bought a 2005 Soloist, and it came with this fork. My 2005 R2.5 came with the Wolf TT fork.

I can see for myself that they are different. But why is there is a difference? Is one better than the other, and if so how/for what?

Good find. Project Zero3 huh?

Interesting, because I bought both my Soloist and R2.5 from Germany. One came with a Wolf TT, one with a Zero3.

Still, I wonder what the difference is in say stiffness or aerodynamics. Maybe very little. Who knows?

I have posted the weight, stiffness and comfort numbers for Project zero3 here: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...?post=734321;#734321

Unfortunately there's no AlphaQ fork in the test, but you can compare the Project zero3 fork to well known forks like Easton EC90 SLX, Time Avant Ulteam Safe+, Look HSC5 SL, Scott CR1 etc.

Here's the numbers for the forks on the frames in the test:

Fork | Lateral stiffness of the fork | Weight fork | Fork comfort (max 15 points)

Smolik Motivation Race | 54 N/mm | 305 g | 3

Cervélo Project zero3 | 47 N/mm | 376 g | 2

Storck Stiletto Light UMS | 48 N/mm | 286g | 3

Red Bull | 43 N/mm | 424 g | 2

Isaac | 48 N/mm | 406 g | 1

Scott CR1 | 42 N/mm | 406 g | 1

THM Scapula SP | 37 N/mm | 273g | 3

Look HSC5 SL | 43 N/mm | 327 g | 2

Time Avant Ulteam Safe+ | 47 N/mm | 360 g | 1

Easton EC90 SLX | 34 N/mm | 283 g | 4

KTM LC | 31 N/mm | 337 g | 4

Storck Stiletto Light | 38 N/mm | 292g | 2

Easton EC90 SLX | 33 N/mm | 282 g | 4

Easton EC90 SLX | 33 N/mm | 287 g | 4

I would guess the Wolf TT is less comfortable and more aerodynamic than project zero3.

Wolf TT is designed for TT bikes and zero3 for road race bikes I would guess.

But if you have both forks, you can see if you can notice any difference in comfort and stiffness. To test this properly it requires you use them on the same bike with the same wheels.
