MORGAN HILL â An assortment of unique bicycles worth $160,000 was stolen from Specialized Bicycle Components in Morgan Hill over the weekend, authorities said.
Officers were called to the companyâs headquarters at 15130 Concord Circle about 4:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a burglary, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a news release.
Police said officers determined that thieves had forced their way into the business during daytime hours and stolen many high-value bikes. The bikes were part of a collection of one-of-a-kind prototypes, race-winning and personally owned bikes on display at Specialized.
Security camera footage showed a maroon Toyota 4Runner and a white box van at the scene. The stolen bikes were loaded into the back of the latter vehicle, police said.
Police said the Toyota was later found unoccupied in Salinas. The box van has not been located.
The case remains under investigation and Specialized is offering a $25,000 reward for information that either leads to the arrest and conviction of the thieves or the return of all the bikes.
