$$$ - cali 70.3 entry, nearly sold out.
another 'Cost of IM' rant. I just clicked submit on my Oceanside 70.3 registration. $283 with Active's processing fee. For kicks, I looked up what I paid for Vineman 70.3 this year. $228. Oceanside two years ago was $225.

10-20% increases every year. Man....

EDIT: obviously, its not hurting demand. According to the participant list, there are 2206 entered. It's got to be pretty close to sold out at this point.

My last race cost $7 I raced two races. It is our local crit series but still a blast.

Bike racing is much cheaper and you can choose a race or two every week.

A race or two every week? I'm racing tonight (TRACK) and Sunday (CROSS!!) and if I didn't have a wedding to go to tomorrow, I could race tomorrow (RR or CROSS)! And, we already raced on Tuesday night (TRACK). ;p

HA!

Actually tonight, there is free beer and free food. A couple of weeks ago, there was a bottle of wine in every registration bag and free Clif bars all weekend as they were a sponsor.

I was watching it daily about two weeks ago starting around 1500 participants - it pretty much increased 50-75 per day. Had to pull the trigger on it much earlier than last year.

I like the race and especially enjoy coming down from 4500 feet to sea level to run.

yeah, last year it sold out in December IIRC, the year before in January. In talking to one of the RD's....they expect it to sell out by the end of this month at the latest.

John
Yea, kinda steep. Several of us registered the day before the price went up thanks to a thread by Tribodyboarder $251.

Look at the up side, no travel expenses.

See you at the race:)

nope. My season is done...I took August and the first half of September off....three HIMs earlier this year was enough for me. The trouble with a big race so early in the year is I'm mentally ready for a break come late summer.

Just starting to run and ride again to start to build base for next year.

You racing I presume? If so, good luck!

Negatory good buddy. I did a ride from home to Laguna Niguel, tackling a couple of solid climbs along the route to somewhat simulate Santiago.
Before the ride, I got in the water at Salt Creek for a 90-min. session from about 6:15-7:45. It was really fun. Then, Vicki let me get another surf in the afternoon at T-Street, so I had a big day with two surfs and a long bike/short run workout.
Did you ride the Canyon?
I'm in HB every Sunday morning now. Vicki plays field hockey at the HB Sports Complex, so I go up with the kids and hang out watching/playing on the sidelines. She has a double-header tomorrow, so I'll be there all morning!

Yea, I rode the Canyon. Lots of tri bike out there the last couple of weeks. I had a two deer come up to me about 20 yds behind Cooks....kinda cool.
RE: HB after next weekend maybe I'll come see you guys.
