Subject: Check out this Preview for an Ironman documentry (looks awsome)

http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/ironman/317media/shawn/what_it_takes.wmv

We are working hard at editing "What It Takes" now, and are probably a month or two away from finishing. As soon as we do, we will be notifying you and others who've expressed interest in the movie. The level of interest has been getting quite strong, on bulletin boards, emails to us, etc. I'm actually on a plane to San Diego, where we're showing a short preview to an audience of VIP advertisers of Triathlete magazine. When the movie comes out to the public, hopefully you all will enjoy watching the movie as much as my team has enjoyed making it. ;-)

Please feel free to help us spread the word; our Web site is
www.WITmovie.com, and again, thanks for your interest!

Peter

I love this kind of stuff. But, it looks like the footage is from the 2004 season. Wonder if this media group purchased the footage from a clearing house and is compiling into a documentary. At any rate, should be good to watch. Someone post when the bit torrent is avail.

Can't get this one to play on my Mac. I have a WMV plug-in, but it just makes Firefox stall out.
Tried to click on the website link and got this;

I saw 20 minutes or so of WHAT IT TAKES last week. It looks awesome. Any complaint about "home made" is misfounded. Peter did a good job of capturing what we all do, but to a higher level: SLEEP, EAT, TRAIN, EAT, TRAIN, SLEEP..... Better than NBC's coverage, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to the finished project.

Can you confirm it is 2004 footage?

What's up with the delay? Was that by design?

Cool. I've seen it before with the older footage, which was the only footage available at that time because it was prior to the last big race. Looking forward to it.

It wasn't your Mac. Think link didn't paste in correctly. I think I just fixed it now, so it should work on Macs, and real computers as well :-)

From the site:

Pre-production work on "What It Takes" has already begun. Filming is occurring from November, 2004, through October, 2005, in a variety of locations:
  • San Diego, California
  • Kona, Hawaii
  • Victoria, BC, Canada
  • Australia
  • Gemany
  • Other international locations TBD (Depending on athletes 2005 race schedules)

--------

The preview has been out there for a while, I'm looking forward to the full release. Too bad they didn't get Normann or Faris on board, it would have been fun to follow them around for a year culminating in Stadler's blow-up or Faris' win.

Film is a lead up to the October 2005 Ironman championship. It seemed to have late 2004/ early 2005 footage, then much of 2005 training and racing (Wildflower), probably ending with October 2005 (though I don't know) Kona race (which will surely be better than NBC). The footage was clear but needed color work; my guess is that this is part of the delay. Also, they "followed" Lori Bowden, who got pregnant and had a super cute baby triathlete. Thus, they may have needed to use more footage of the other 3 pros. Again, just my guess.
