Can't wait for the movie. One of the most incredible stories of an iron will and unbreakable spirit.

I cannot wait to watch this movie. No way the movie will be able to do justice to the story told in the book but it is a story that many many people need to be made aware. The sacrifices and bravery of Louie Zamperini's generation is simply remarkable.

Thanks for the reminder. I've had it sitting here for 2 months. He seems like another of his generation…..the greatest generation! They all would never make an excuse…just got it done. Can't wait for the movie.

Can't wait for the movie but I agree - they'll be so limited within the constraints of a movie. I remember thinking to myself at one point while reading it how amazing that anyone could have survived all that he did, then I noticed at the bottom of the Kindle page that I was only about 35% through the story.

And the fact he's still alive after all that is truly amazing. He turned 97 on Jan 26th.

Also, Angelina Jolie is directing the movie. She'll probably do ok (and get lots of help)... but would rather they had gotten a top flight director.

Such a tremendous story and I could not it down, one of the best books I've ever read. I'm usually hesitant to see movies of books that I really enjoyed since it is rarely ever as good but may make an exception here

Good point. Can "we" get back to talking about what wheels to use for some local/yocal super sprint tri? Those threads appear daily and *always* so interesting.

WARNING: do NOT read the book before going to bed if you want a peaceful nights sleep. your mind will be spinning and excited and you'll end up getting up, going to the other room and reading until you have to get up to go to work.
