It was announced this morning that there will be a new British cycling team launched later this year, with Sky as the principal sponsors and with the explicit aim of delivering a British winner of the Tour de France within 5 years:

Got to admire the ambition at least! Be interesting to see whether they can get together an attractive enough package to pull in the likes of Cavendish, Wiggins, Millar and Geraint Thomas over the next couple of years. If they can get Cavendish on board and put their track expertise to good use for the Team TTs they should at least get some stage wins, unearthing a GC contender could be a little trickier.
