To put it mildly, probably the most dominant distance swimmer of all time..Leave it to the ST sleuths to figure that one out.

Thought I was going to get shut out with the weather today, but it turned out to be sunny and warm after all. I was figuring that my tapered speed workout yesterday was going to blast me today, but the taper is still on. Did my longest of the decade, and ok paces throughout and straight through, no breaks:

20X100- 5swim, 1IM/4s- 1IM/3s- 1IM/2s-1IM/1s-1IM, all at 1;30 base- free-1;18 to 1;15, IM's 1;21 to 1;18

It wasn't me... I swear.

Seriously got back in the saddle today with an easy unstructured 2500 (scm). I should be fine in a week or so. The enforced break has helped my abdominal issue, I booked a follow up with the doc the same day as my son's annual check up. The poor little boy has been GI sick since very late Wednesday night, same thing as the little one. He's lost 3 pounds and can barely keep his pants up, the poor little guy's B-Day (4) is tomorrow & we moved his party back to next weekend. It will be a fun weekend as he has swimming & his party on Saturday and then my co-worker's daughter has her party the next day and they have booked some ice at a nearby rink.

Great workout Steve, if you are not careful,, you may just get into shape!!! I had to drag myself today, and only went as tomorrow is a holiday and the pools are closed. But I do need a break from the pool and need to get back on the roads again. Todays workout;

Ha! on the 10th, my company had a health fair and one spot had one of those BMI machines that looks like an oversized xbox controller. It measured my body fat at 22.2% and BMI of 25.7. So, according to it, I'm a fatty. After yesterday's swim, I dragged this fat mass of mine over 7 miles of running. If the weather holds up, I'll do another run today and a ride tomorrow.

2,900 scy with a main set of 8x200's. Flip Turns progressing nicely.

damn, the pool was open yesterday and I didn't know. Did a 50 mile ride instead and that hurt - return trip into the wind.

Saturday and Sunday were big days for me and my arms/shoulders are feeling it. Nevertheless...

Just reading that workout you did made my arms tired, and feel very heavy. Man you swam that set the tough way, balls out, nice job hanging on, and some pretty smoking splits too.

Had a day out of the pool yesterday, so figured today would be a last hard day before I go into taper mode for the b-day set on monday. Had two of our studs there, but they just got back from a week of skiing in Tahoe, so it was my time to strike at them, and we went 3 wide in the lanes, all leading the entire time. My fastest main set of the last few years leading on little rest:

4x150swim@ 2;30- 1;57/1;52/1;49/1;45
10x100-5s@1;30-5p@1;20- 1;14 to 1;08s- 1;10 to 1;08p

400 yd w/u (used flippers to see how it felt and hopefully improve my kick).

4 x 500 yd (1:00 RI) 7:09, 7:08, 7:08, 7:11

Jumped out of the pool and ran 6 miles, but couldn't get rid of the post swim belly ache.

Been a big week of swimming, already over 16k for the week with tons of quality work. Here was this morning's "easier" day. The sets of 250's hard from Tuesday are still lingering.

W/U - 400
8x50 swim (:45)
4x75 25kick, 25stroke, 25kick (1:20)
2x100 swim (1:30)
10x25 pull (:25)
Main Set:
12x100 alternating Free/IM all on 1:45.
My 6 Free were 1:06, 1:05, 1:04, 1:05, 1:04, 1:03
My 6 IM's were 1:19, 1:21, 1:22. 1:20, 1:19, 1:19

Finished off with 10x50 kick (:60)
Then a 200 easy swim.

But seriously, I had a monster PR by 30seconds. Went 12:17! Which is great for me! I was only thinking about trying to be able to hold 1:15's by the end of the season.

Way to go dude, that is a solid time. How did you split the 500's? What do you think the breakthrough was attributed to? I know for me it has been getting involved in the challenges and this paricular thread for motivation. Looking through my logs, I have doubled my yardage and now feel good at the end of hard workouts, and not completely trashed. Next stop should be that 100 for you, new goal of :58!!!
