"Clip-on Aerobars" - identical for road & TT bike?
Random question here -

The term "clip-on aerobars" comes up most frequently when people discuss about adding TT bars to their road bikes or doing a conversion of a road bike to a TT-style bike.

But is there anything that's road-bike specific when discussing 'clip-on aerobars?' I was recently shopping for aerobars for a Cervelo TT bike, and it seemed to me that all the aerobars except the uber-expensive monocoque one-piece aerobars were clip-on, regardless of whether you had a road-or TT bike.

For example, if you want to replace your aerobars on your <$2000 TT bike, and do not want to spend the dough on a $600+ monocoque aerobar/stem NON-clip-on setup, wouldn't you be likely be adding clip-on aerobars to your TT bike?

Yes.

Zipp Vuka Clip is a good choice IMO.

The TT bike should already have aerobars. If you're replacing them, it depends how they are attached/integrated into the handlebars. Almost all TT non-clip-on setups allow you to remove the 22.2mm bars which facilitate replacement. So you could, in effect, buy better "clip on" 22.2mm bars and use them in your current set up. You'd just not use the "clips" they come with." Or you could buy bars only like these: Zipp Vuka Carbon bars.

Yep, typically the only difference is that you won't fit bar-end levers on a road bike.
Both road bikes with "clip-ons" and most tri bikes, have extension assemblies that clamp to a 31.8mm bar and that can be either a tri bike base bar with bullhorns/pursuits, or the central portion of a road drop bar.

there are some aero bars that don't support bar end shifters (e.g. profile design century), therefore they can't fit a tt bike

It also depends on if you are planning to race any ITU draft legal races, for those, you can only use the little stubby areobars
