foot muscle strain?
Hi ladies,

I have a curious question. I have had plantar fasciitis in both feet for 9 months, and decided to get a PRP shot in my right foot. I'm not sure if the podiatrist didn't do a good job with the injection or I didn't rest it enough after, but now I have a new issue in that foot. The MRI shows swelling of the abductor hallucis and the flexor digitorum brevis muscles. The diagnosis is a strain of those muscles. I've tried wearing a boot on that foot for a month and resting it, doing contrast baths and icing, getting another cortisone shot, and taking meloxicam and ibuprofen. Nothing has helped. It has been 2 months since the PRP shot. Has anyone had issues with these muscles? What has helped? I'm not sure if I should keep going the resting route, or go to PT and start digging into it and doing eccentrics. Or something else.

Many thanks!

all of this is related to your plantar fasciitis, so chasing after the symptom (tiny foot muscles) is missing the larger cause of your plantar problems. This could mean a dysfunction as far 'up' the posterior chain (Pelvis), or the lower limb muscles such as the gastroc/soleus. Or all of the above.

Podiatrist is focusing on the feet, but he/she has probably made a recommendation on long term address of the plantar pain.

Also, related would be if you have had children, so pelvic floor/pelvic tilt can have a relation to plantar pain. PT or womens' health specialist would be a good resource.
