Pretty sure I am in, will depend on work. I really really really want to go so unless it comes down to a $$$ issue, I'll be there.

Can someone remind me which airport we fly into and about how far of a drive it is from the airport? Would we be renting cars?

Thanks!

I fly in from the east coast too. I usually take the red-eye out on Sunday night, or I stay overnight Sunday near LAX and take the first flight out in the morning. Most everyone bugs out by early to mid-afternoon on Sunday, though, so leaving around 2pm on Sunday wouldn't cut into much.

The best airports are Ontario or Burbank (about an hour), LAX or Long Beach are also options, but are 90 minutes or more (maybe way more depending on traffic).

People try to carpool. That get's sorted out when we have a confirmed list of people.

Thanks Cathy! I am wondering if I could do the drive from Phoenix or not...might be a hike but I could save on flights and not carrying on my bike. I'll have to check it out to see how long it might be.

I believe it is about 6 or 7 hours..Maybe if we can get Paul Thomas to come again, you guys can carpool..Now that would be an Ironman, 7 hours of Paul Thomas, trapped in a car...XXX rated for sure...(-;

In case anyone is still thinking about it.....a number of airlines just announced west coast sales. Alaska, Virgin America, United, American are ones I've seen today.

Burbank or Ontario are closest. LAX also works.

I did some Google mapping and it does look to be about 6 1/2 hours driving from where I live. That's not bad, and it would save a ton not having to rent a car, ship a bike, pay airfare. So I am thinking I am in! So maybe a road trip from Phoenix if anyone else is in.....

That's about the same drive that those of us from NorCal have. It's worth it.

Yeah better than the drive from Vancouver BC - which I have (stupidly) done twice! Not this time though, if I can come I will fly. Save a whack of time.

I'm in! If anyone is flying into LAX on Tuesday (leaving Sunday) and wants to carpool, please let me know. Virgin America has good deals right now from DC (Dulles) to LAX, and a screaming good deal if you fly in on Monday. Cathy -- if I fly in early, can I stay at Xantusia, or do I need to get a hotel room?

I'm looking forward to this, y'all!

Deposit sent this morning via snail mail.

I'll be driving up from IMCA (San Diego) on Wednesday morning and returning Sunday afternoon to drop off the car and fly home if anybody needs a ride in that direction.

I am afraid I may actually now be OUT...my in-laws decided to book a trip to come and visit over Easter weekend and only told us AFTER they booked their plane tickets!!! (Don't get me started.....) I still want to come but don't know how to get out of this one. I might be able to drive in for a night or two but this has definitely upended my plans. :(

Still trying to get time off work for this... I have more than enough points to get to LAX free*, so I should know in the next two weeks or so. May have to borrow a bike tho (instead of trying to bring mine). AP

If you do decide to bring your bike, there's a bike box under your staircase that you can use...
