Swimsuit Recommendations
I'm looking for a swimsuit to keep my breastfeeding boobs in check. The speedos with the nonexistent shelf bras aren't cutting it. I'd like something with a little more support and that tames my enlarged "nursing nipples." (Sorry... But if you've been there, you know what i'm talking about...)

Thanks in advance!

I hear you re. the breastfeeding boobs and their wild ways. lol Careful though about compressing the girls too much while you're breastfeeding... I found over-restraining them caused discomfort. I had mastitis a couple of times, and I'm not sure if compression caused it -- but you definitely do not want it. Good luck, and congratulations!

Speedo actually has a body sculpture range http://www.speedosculpture.com/, probably directed towards showing your body slimmer but my one-off experience showed that it also holds breasts very well. Another option would be to wear a sports bra under the swimsuit. If you manage to find matching colors of the bra and suit and also the swimsuit and bra straps follow similar lines it might work OK.

I've been lurking here a while, and I finally had to sign up just so that I could say "OMG, how did I miss that?!" You may have just revolutionised my swimming life with that Speedo line.

I really like TYR suits because they are made of thicker material. The Nike suit I had was really thin; it didn't last and I never felt very covered. TYR (and Speedo) suits seem to be made of better, thicker, and more durable material.

If you dont mind your post baby belly then may be a training Bikini May help.
No it is not like a training bra but a bikini made for real swimming. They look liks a pair of briefs and a sports bra oin better colors and patterns.

You may also have too big of a suit if you are not being held well. I have experiences the breasfeeding Nips and it is not pretty. I found a new (right sized) small suit helps tame them well (but nothing will tame them completely without padding for me and I cannot do padding in a swimsuit). Coming from a swimming background I am used to tight swimsuits but they should be pretty tight around the girls anyway. It should feel like a uniboob sports bra...if not it is probably a bit too big.

Thanks for the responses. And, I think you are right - I do need to switch to a 2 piece. While i'm not loving the post-baby belly (even though I've lost the weight, it's still a bit flabby), it will get me to the pool. Anything is better than not swimming - especially when i'm not swimming because the suit is so bad.

Kind of late on this reply...

We (Aqua Sphere) have a line of swimwear that may suit your needs very well.

We have a line called the Active Fitness line, that offers our BCS, Body Control System. In our Active Fitness line, you will fine suits that offer bust support, with shelf bra's, seamed and structured cups, and even padded cups.

These suits offer just a little bit of extra coverage and support, without crossing over to the "Floral" suits. Our suits offer a Performance, Fit, and Fashion all in one package. A suit that performs well and is cut for a woman.

I'm happy to help or answer any questions if I can.

Also check out Title 9 and Athleta, as they both have suits sold by bra size. I find them much more supportive than the ordinary suit!

Thanks for the heads-up regarding aquasphere suits. I didn't know they made suits. Love the goggles! Next suit purchase will be a aquashere.

I train in a Tyr suit. I'm no longer BF but it's very supportive even without a shelf bra. For shelf bras, I used Lands End before, and now am getting into Athleta suits.
