Sounds like I would enjoy it, I'll have to see if I can fit it into my schedule. I like physics too.

I love Calvin and Hobbes.

I don't love Physics ;-) (Bio major in undergrad so I suffered through 2 semesters of physics)

Things are getting better, I think.

Yesterday was their "two month anniversary." He brought over a mint chocolate cheesecake for her (mint chocolate is her FAVORITE). I had to leave for class about fifteen minutes after he got there - was grateful for that, actually. LOL. Walked back from class trying to decide, "if he is still there, what will I say tactfully to send him home, because she didn't ask if he could stay over and I am not up for company tonight."

When I got back they were both gone. I went to bed :-) woke up this AM and she's there (has AM practice), he's not.

We have settled on some sort of truce it seems... but yeah I am curious how long this relationship lasts. Comments of "I'm in love with him... I want to spend the rest of my life with him..." still elicit the 'Calvin reaction' on my part (you know his face turning all green) because, um, it's only been 2 months. I'm glad she's happy. I'm glad she's having fun. I could do without the lovey dovey ga ga talk.

I'm with Eric ...it will be over faster than it started. Three months seems to be the point at which neither person can keep up 'perfect' appearances or tolerate something annoying the other person does. Give it a month and you will probably be home free.

Until then, though ...good luck. I know the Calvin reaction well. When my little sister started dating her first real boyfriend, that was the image that came to mind every time they said hello/goodbye/anything in between ...I can understand the GROSS club ;-)

On a side note, I LOVE Calvin and Hobbs ...I have most of the comic books, my AIM pic is Calvin dancing in his pajamas, and I have a C&H quotes application on my facebook: "You know what I pray for? The strength to change what I can, the inability to accept what I can't and the incapacity to tell the difference." --Calvin

I'm terribly sorry but I am sitting here with a huge grin on me face because your misfortune reminds me of my college flatmate. He was a right piece of work that guy. Oh the good times we had arguing over whether or not he'd successfully set the place on fire, how to use a bathroom properly, or just the risk of illnesses from the consumption of spoiled foods and subsequently when and how to dispose of said food items. I'm a smug little prick now because I so fondly remember how I finally got my vengeance. Anyway..

Either their relationship will soon be over, or they will find a place to live. Either way you win.

And Bill Watterson is a bleedin genius. If anyone knows where to get an Atomic Cerebral Enhance-O-Tron please let me know.

... it is not entirely misfortune that she is so into him, because she is an extrovert, I am an introvert, and when it's just the two of us, she requires MY attention (most of the time I want to just curl up and read, please). So it's a trade off between a low maintenance roommate and the loud kissy noises.

They're going to his place tonight :D

It's all based on the teacher, not the school. I'm still shooting for a perfect 110 on one of these tests this semester. However, I'm not the lone 100+ score this test. Both people to the right and left of me got a 100 and a 102. I think they cheated off of me. The test average was about 80 but we are the smart class.

Please bear in mind that I can be juvenile at times. This guy was beyond hope. In the 5 years we shared the dorm flat (yes, I put up with it that long - live and let live) he never cleaned up after himself. He was rude, self centered and according to himself incapable of doing anything wrong. At all. My friends who have met him are still telling stories.

Basically, I got him kicked out of the dorm. As a bonus, seeing as how his personal hygiene didn't matter that much to him I made sure he got to pay for having the hardwood floors redone ($800), and for the key he lost ($1000). Incidentally, because I graduated ahead of time I got to have my room inspected before him. After dropping off my key at the administrative office the following night I snuck back in using a spare key. It was the night before he was set to leave. I attached cling film to the door frame of his room, filled the gap between the door and the film with a surprisingly huge amount of kitchen garbage - had to do an additional garbage run to the dumpsters - and left him a note saying "Thank you for teaching me how to keep a clean home. Let me repay you in kind."

Terribly juvenile, I know.

I didn't get my 3 pts back for the multiple choice question I appealed, but they scaled it 10 pts (class average was a 58). So I've got an 85 and a 76 for exam grades, B average there and A average in lab and workshop - so I've an A overall still.

Bonus points.. Ludicrous.

I checked my grades last night and I have an 98.6 average in the class so far. And that is with me missing a lab report that I did but forgot to turn in. Right now, I probably have over a 100 average.

With me being an engineer, I find it absolutely ludicrous at how lax a lot of people are in taking measurements. One of my lab partners thinks that 57cm is close enough and goes ahead and rounds up to 60cm. She also called me anal when she measured something and said that it was 51cm and then I went behind her and measured it myself and got an answer of 50.7cm. Big difference!

we were always taught to measure to the closest significant figure- ie if your measuring stick thing goes to cm, then measure to the mm (estimate) and if it goes to mm... well thats just damn hard to see, so go with it. But yea- 57 is not the same as 60, and 50.7 isnt the same as 51.

but im an engineer too. I dont even like the fact that the dimension setting I have in a clients AutoCAD standards only measures to the 32nd of an inch. I want to see it to the .0001", i hate having things not close perfectly.

I'm more like your lab partner. Lab happens right after my swim workout so when I get to lab all I want is (1) a nap and (2) things to eat, not necessarily in that order. Since the TAs do not really read the labs that closely, my group members and I do it as fast as possible while making it look like we know exactly what we are doing. This means being a bit lax with measurements, significant figures, etc.

Yeah, that was great :-)

Roommate called me this afternoon - am home for a dr's appt (shots! ouch!) and told me "I'm not mad at you anymore."
.
She would be a pretty useless human if she didn't get over it. You were really nice about it.
It is college after all and people occasionally wind up in other peoples beds, but this was a premeditated serial sleepover.
I am not nearly so nice. The second time my roomamte got drunk and peed in the corner I locked him out in the hall in his boxers when he went to the bathroom to puke. He just wound up climbing into someone elses bed that night. Luckily he was blacked out and did not know why he woke up In another guys bed [who thankfully was staying in his girlfriends dorm room (she had a single)].
Suggest that she get a blow up mattress and put in the common area for when he stays over. After all it is like they seem to have an overwelming need for privacy...
