No cat fights yet? :-)

Good on you ladies for keeping this forum so civil.

I'd suspect that some of the guys who were against the womens forum initially expected (or hoped) it to turn into a big cat fight.

I've even noticed the main forum has also been very civil lately. Maybe we're following your example.

You're doing great job so far gals.

Cat fights? What the heck do you think this is, roller derby? I think there has been a few heated discussions but it has been handled well in almost every occasion and a lot of women are committed to making this work. It's not for everyone and it wasn't intended to be but I am impressed and excited by how this is working out.

In my experience, every woman I've met through ST has been charming, impressive, and fun to be around. Now there is a room for us to chat and I think eventually it will benefit everyone--perhaps shy women will post in the main forum! Bonus for the guys!

Thanks for that, Cerveloguy. I actually think many of the guys just thought it would fizzle out after a few weeks. They couldn't imagine that we would actually have something important to discuss here. Of course, they won't admit it, but they were wrong.

I can't imagine having the shaving thread on the main forums. Or, the body image one for that matter and have it been so honest. Even the ascending was handled really well with great, supportive advice. I mentioned a bike saddle adjustment and sore knees and someone was a little mean, nothing serious, but still, not called for. No reason to make someone feel stupid and I think that is what would happen over there for technique questions.

Don't you mean PILLOW fights? You know where we're all in a big bed with feathers from our down pillows flying then someone starts tugging on another's negligee strap...;)

In my experience (women's sports teams/female dominated workplaces) a good catfight needs a lot of passive aggressive behavior to get it going and it's pretty darned hard to be passive aggressive in an online forum. Is there an electronic version of the deliberate snub, the sidelong glare or the scathingly vicious non-compliment?? (so much depends on tone and body language) I wouldn't even know where to begin.

It doesn't help at all that the posters in this particular forum seem like pretty cool people (be they womens or mens). Not that I'm complaining!

Aren't you the one who posted the thread this morning....

"Finally figured out how to get faster......
I've decided this year not to buy any more new tri or bike gear except for replacement items like tires, tubes, etc. Realized what I've got is quite adequate. A new bike, wetsuit or pair of tri shorts won't make me any faster. "

And now you're posting a compliment on the Woman's Forum.

I LIKE YOU !!

You have female qualities.....LOL.... I've known all along it's about the engine, not all the fancy stuff.

PS..... I love passing up guys on their decked out bikes!!!

And so when guys fight it's what??? A dog fight? Not to be "catty' but that term Cat fight is rather inflammatory in my opinion

I too am very impressed with the civility of The Women's forum. I have yet to see one mean or degrading post here.

Yesterday on the Main Forum, there was a thread of a guy asking to critique his position and living room. Granted he set himself up, but most of the comments were constructive and/or funny. However, one reply back said that he needed to lose 15 pounds.
That is just uncalled for and no one should even try to joke about that.

I think there would be anarchy if a reply like that ended up on The Women's!
Great job, ladies!
