IMWA - Busselton. Accomodation Suggestions/Help Needed Please
Quote | Reply
We are 2 Canadians (husband/wife early 50's) coming to Busselton Dec 1st to race at IMWA. We're planning to stay until Dec 9th. Can anyone tell us if there are any home-stay options or short-term rentals available close to the race site? Any other suggestions would be welcome - would it be better to stay in one of the B & B's or hotels close to the race. If so, which one...? We're planning on staying in Perth or Fremantle the week before we arrive in Busselton. Hopefully there are some good cycling routes in that area....Any info would be appreciated. Either reply here or PM me please/thanks.

Hi Carolyn. I've never been over to Busso myself, but there is an Australian forum similar to this (its down at the moment but check over the next day or 2) called "transitions". Several people on there have done Busso and there were posts a few weeks ago talking about accommodation.

It might be worth a look for you. Enjoy our beautiful Australia!

You can book through Ken Glah's company, Endurance Sports Travel. They will book your hotel, pick you up in Perth, transport you to/from Busselton, as well as to/from the race site. It's also fun because you meet other athletes that you can train with throughout the week and cheer each other on during the race.

They took great care of us all week -- including trips to/from race site for workouts & registration, grocery stores, driving the course, and even serving as bike mechanic.

You might like to try the Triathlon West Australian's discussion page www.triwa.org.au You'll get local knowledge, whereas transitions tends to have more east coast members.

Lots of places to stay in Freo...make sure you visit Little Creatures Brewpub. They might still have kangaroo on the menu.
