I had a good week until Saturday when my foot hurt after running. I haven't run since then and am hoping it will hurt less soon. I don't want to talk about it :D

M - 8.5 mi run
T - 7 mi run + 1200 yd swim
W - 8 mi run
Th - 4.5 mi run + 30 mi bike + 1200 yd swim + canoeing!
F - 6.5 mi run + 2200 yd swim
S - 6 mi run + 4 mi bike + 10 minute swim against river current
S - 50 minute swim against river current

Other swims were in the lake.

Goals this week: 6-7 runs, 2-3 swims, and 2-3 cool adventures (cycling, hiking, kayaking all count). Also, do better with eating (i.e., no bingeing).

Check on all of those. I only binged once, that is good. The adventures were canoeing and Saturday/Sunday I was on a camping trip (thus the river swims). Oh: adventure-wise, in the space of a week I swam in the ocean, the lake, and a river. That's kind of neat. The week I move to Oregon maybe I can swim in the Atlantic and the Pacific... the other adventure is I am currently dating someone; that happened last week-ish. Check on the "adventure" category.

I am playing it by ear this week in terms of how my foot feels. I was ok to ride and swim this morning and I am grateful to have those. One goal is to foam roll every day (check for today). The other goal is no bingeing. I am on the third day of doing well: didn't have eating issues S, Su, or today :-) The other goal is to spend some time journaling. I saw my therapist Friday and have some stuff to process.

FINALLY got my lazy ass back in the water (and the cudda seems to be leaving me alone for the most part) 6500ish m (um yes, that is the distance for the Whole Week) last week and that COULD be a record for the year. :)

I'm so jealous of that water! Mine is either pool water or gnarly lake water...which, for the first time in awhile, is clear enough to almost see your feet.....

I didn't run or bike last week - but hadn't really planned on it much.

Put in 30,000+ mix of yards/meters over 7 practices. Managed to hit M, T, W & F am practices, W evening, a 5600 Saturday mid-day 7 another ~5600 in the lake on Sunday. Found some speed - holding 1:15 SCY intervals & putting in some 4:00 300s LCM & a very comfortable (i.e. easy) 1500 LCM in 16:02. By end of Sunday my shoulders were so done.

Traveling all week this week with crucial meetings throughout the week. We'll see if I can muster the strength for anything.

Beautiful! If I had a place like that to swim, maybe I'd be in the water more. ....No, I probably still wouldn't. :P

My week was AWESOME!!!

Goals for this week:
swim x2
run x5
bike x2

swim - FAIL. Only 1
run - EVEN. Only 3, but at least got in really good interval and tempo runs as well as the long run, it was just the ez runs I skipped.
bike - WIN. 3 rides, one of them being a mtn bike race. It was quite the exciting day, as I had an exam in the morning and didn't know if I'd finish in time to do the race, but made it over in time to register and even get a quick warm-up in. Raced sport class and came in 1st woman overall!! First time ever winning anything. :) Had an absolute blast, it is really fun to be able to push the bike for once instead of saving something for that pesky run. ;) It was also a ton of fun knowing who the top girls were from last year, battling back and forth with them a few times, and being good enough to think about race strategy rather than just surviving like usual. Now tossing around the idea of working towards a Cat 1 license so I can race Expert next year. Anyway, this race is the reason I'm classifying last week as awesome. :D

Goals for this week:
swim - 1
run - 3
bike - 2
+ racing Xterra Logansport (most likely will be my first non-wetsuit swim, so it will be interesting to see how I do)

With the bull sharks off shore and the 1 meter barracuda that follows me around the bay all the time with his mouth hanging wide open, it can be a little difficult to be motivated, even with that color water. :)

Water is pretty gorgeous when we don't have tropical storms or hurricanes coming through. :) though my husband just told me that my swim cap (green) makes me blend in. I'd thought it was neon enough to stick out but now I need pink or orange apparently. AND YIKES but that is some SERIOUS swim yardage! WOW!

All and all a pretty good week. Still adjusting to no bike or run. I have to be careful to refrain from overdoing the swimming--I've got pent up energy from suddenly dropping 14 hours of training from my week.

Finished over 17K yards for the week. Did my first "long" swim, 3 x 1 mile descending in open water, sans wetsuit--my longest ever.

Goals this week:
--top 20K yards
--improve speed on 3 x 1 mile
--6 hours core/strength
--shoulder preventive and PT stretching 2x day
--find a kayaker for my 5 miler

AW, good yards there. Take care of the shoulders. Kathy--that is some beautiful looking water. TC--keep us posted on that new "adventure" of yours.

No coasting in running and no crying in baseball

Totally met and exceeded in some cases; as written before, when I am motivated to train, I usually hit it out of the park and I did so this last week. The trick is keeping the motivation high. :-)
last week's goals:
Run 4X (with 1x 90' run and 1x intervals) -> DONE
Bike 4X (1x Commute+ and 1x LSD road or MTB ride) -> DONE++ - I managed SIX rides last week for almost 300kms. Fri was 2hrs, Sat was 3hrs Tri bike and Sun was 4hrs Tri bike going up and down Mount Baker. It was 40degC (~110F) during that ride - holy crap - that was hot hot hot!!!
SWIM (OW - aim for 1hr) -> DONE (yes it's true I managed an OW swim - my first in 15+ months)
WCP 2X -> DONE (one session of weights and one kickass Plyo session).

This week:
Run 4x (60' EZ; 45' with intervals; 60' EZ; 60' Tempo or Hills)
Bike 4x (1 Commute+ and 1 Tri bike 2-4hrs)
WCP 2x
Swim 1x

C'mon down. Course we're getting hit with Ernesto's winds and rain today. Very different pictures today. :) But seriously, you're totally welcome down here.

Ernesto...

We're getting the dirty side of him today so I think we'll move the bike to tomorrow. Just not sure what we'll get hit with.

2 nights in quebec city (citadel, battlefields park, l'escalier cap-blanc, vieux quebec, ferry to levis/climb stairs to vieux levis, fireworks on the dufferin terrasse at chateau frontenac), 1 night at stoneham resort (after touring around montmorency falls; pool and hot tub were niiiiice.), 2 nights in montreal (notre dame basilica, vieux port, marche bonsecours, mont royal park, le plateau, alexis nihon place).

i'd probably have gained 20lbs if we hadn't walked everywhere, climbed a million stairs, rode bixi bikes through montreal and got in the occasional run (up mont royal and through parc les saules, plus a "blah" run in cornwall). as it is, i was afraid to step on the scale this morning, and rightfully so!

so exhausted; we only got home yesterday afternoon after 2,000km on the motorcycles and 8 days away, and both of us had to be at work this morning!

cheers!

Looks like a terrific trip! I am FINALLY on vacation myself, too. Last week was fun; lots of trail running and rock climbing:

M: 10 mile trail run hard pace, 1000 m lake swim
T: 10 mile trail run
W: 10 mile trail run, 3 pitches rock climbing outdoors!
R: 10 mile trail run, 2 pitches rock climbing outdoors!
F: 10 mile trail run, 3 pitches rock climbing outdoors!
S: 8 mile trail run, 1 hour mountain bike.
S: 5k race in 18:15, 45 min beach run

I got to 67 miles running, but no actual workouts. Despite a good 5k, I realize that my shorter distance speed has diminished considerably. But I am having fun with the higher mileage. This week I'm on vacation still, so hoping to get to 75 miles running.

QC is a fantastic place to visit! We went one year for Carnvial d'Hiver - amazing!!! ;-) I still want to do le Pentathalon de Niege... sue les Champs d'Abraham.... oui oui! Then eat crepes & poutine & drink caribou! Booyeah!

AP

Edit: Montreal is great too, just different. I remember the first time I walked inside the Basilica, I was 14. And awestruck. I had never seen anything like that. Last time I was in MTL I was 37 and went to Club Super Sexe. How times change... :-)

i feel so lame - we only went to one bar (benelux artisinal brewpub), and not a single strip club! the police-escorted nude critical mass ride (last photo) was the closest we came. after walking the basilica and old town, hiking up mont royal, riding bixi all over the plateau and through downtown, we were pretty worn out by the time we finished dinner (which was never earlier than 11pm). we might have hit the clubs friday night had i not had to go peeling across town at 11:30pm to meet the fellow who kindly called bixi to inform me he'd found my credit card left in the bloody pay station! at least we got it back, with (as far as i can tell) no strange charges. young guy wouldn't even take the $20 i offered him to buy him a drink for his trouble.

we did have crepes (well, buckwheat galettes) but no poutine for me due to food allergies. lots of curds, really good cheese, amazing seafood, a st viateur bagel fresh from the oven for tanker, and we noshed 1/2lb of schwartz's hot smoked meat doused in their mustard (we brought a bottle home).

oh yeah, and the $250 steak dinner at douze vingt et un, eaten at the table next to one of george st. pierre's trainers, was pretty tight, too. oysters on the half shell, filet mignon and this white chocolate cheesecake for dessert (topped by fresh-poured dark ganache), washed down with a glass of pommery brut royale!

guess everyone has their own form of pornography ;)

cheers!
