my goal for the week was 7 days with healthy coping skills. I had 5 or 6 depending on how I count it.
There have been a couple of recent stressful things, but one of them has been some peroneus longus tendonitis. This is the tendon that runs near the screw I had put in my foot this summer. I think my foot bones are just sort of changing around and stuff is settling out. I saw a foot/ankle specialist two weeks ago in OKC and she wasn't sure if it would settle out on its own, or if the screw is rubbing. I am sure she's a competent physician but I'm not as impressed with her and her office as a whole as I am the surgeon who put the screw in back home. I hope that doesn't sound mean - he's just been WAY more thorough, and I trust him because this was going really, really well until February 18. Anyway, my plan right now is to try and ease back into very slow running with v low mileage (which the doc in OKC said was ok) and see that doctor over spring break if I need to. But the feelings have been a lot of fear (not being able to run again; having to have the screw taken out maybe) and sadness (missing running in general, won't be able to run a race this weekend I was looking at, or one later in the spring).

Anyway, I am SUPER grateful to be able to swim right now. I swam 6x last week, and yesterday I ran 1.37 miles (15 min @ 5.5 mph which is about as easy as I can manage) and that felt okay. (The pain happens with the calf raise part of my stride, or just doing calf raises, and low speed -> less of a pushoff, I guess).

goals this week:
journal. every. day.
