OK, how luscious does this sound: Women's Retreat Italy

the pricier version of the Gals of ST weekend?

I especially liked the comment "sag wagon.....with treats!"

I can always dream I guess :)

I was reading this today as well. I sent it to my girlfriends. I think it's a little pricey!

While pricey, it still is cheaper than Backroads, albeit Backroads is very swanky.

Doing the math... 10 people times $3500 is $35,000. Holy hell. You could do it exponentially cheaper by renting a villa in Tuscany, hiring a cook / chef and driver / car / SAG well for under $10-15G's (and split among 10). Having ridden all over France and Northern Spain and Italy (tuscany - sienna, florence, san gimingano) I personally would not use a Sag. There are towns all along the way providing great food and beverages (red wine bein one of them). You could just ride from your villa, and trust me, there are killer Villas and roads all over the place! you do not need a guide. just a map!

We should plan something for Spring 2009. I'd be more than happy to go in on a villa, good lord how awesome would that be? I'll be 40 4/2009, and this would be a hell of a way to celebrate!

hmm, could be onto something here! we could still afford to hire a chef at that price....

actually have looked into the whole villa rental in Tuscany but not gotten very far other than dreaming and googling

very economical way to go if you're gonna be based in one locale.

I did a gig cycling in Tuscany, really fun -- albeit hilly! But who cared how long it took to get to the top when a fine wine was awaiting :)

Is summer out of the question? That's the only time I can play at will.

I stayed at a villa in Tuscany with a bunch of friends 4 years ago. If anyone would like the info on it, just PM me. It was perfect for a group. I think there were 7 bedrooms, many of which had their own bathroom. I think there were 4 or 5 bathrooms upstairs with the bedrooms. The downstairs had a huge kitchen, dining room, sitting area and pool table room. There was also a pool, although we didn't use it much since we went in May and it was pretty cold still. The location was perfect - about an hour from Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Sienna; much closer to San Gimignano, Volterra, Castelfiorentino, etc. The price was good too, although that may have changed.
