Ever heard of http://www.fertilityblend.com ?

http://www.fertilityblend.com/

A wife's friend used this after ~8 months of issues with getting pregnant, and claims that in using the product (which really appears to just be a vitamin supplement plus one or two other things) got pregnant in one month. The friend also says that another friend had similar results.

Wife's friend has no diagnosed fertility issues that I'm aware of, friend of friend has PCOS.

I view the claims as either being really lucky timing or a placebo effect.

Thoughts? Experiences?

It was designed by a reproductive endocrinologist at Stanford. Certainly not harmful.
Back in the days that I was ttc, I definitely noticed more cervical mucous.....

I think this is a supplement and is therefore unregulated so it's a crap shoot as to what is actually in it. I was trying to conceive (TTC) for 2.5 years and never considered using this even though I knew about it. I worked with my OB/GYN, used Clomid and IUI, and I'm now 6 months pregnant with a boy. Yeah!

Anyone that has fertility issues is vulnerable and looking for answers and is therefore open to these types of things. People don't understand it until their in the middle of it and the combination of desperation and desire is really powerful. I got pregnant two weeks before my first scheduled appointment with a fertility specialist. There is no telling what I would have been willing to do had we not conceived then.

Are you TTC?

TTC, hadn't seen that before this thread.

We like the term NTTP (not trying to prevent), but we take that perspective as my wife has PCOS so we know going into this that we're going to have a really hard time. Since she has PCOS, my wife is obviously very keen on anything we can do to help out the situation. One of her best friends recommended this after using it with "success" (I'm skeptical).

I don't see how using it can hurt (however it does have some semi-high dosages). I feel it is best for her to stop taking any other vitamins/supplements while she is on this so she doesn't take too high of a dosage on anything (she's taking a pre-natal multi-vitamin now).

But that's the thing, the pre-natal she is taking is the same ingredients (smaller dosages) except for one or two vitamins. If I could get her to take some fish oil pills then we'd have recreated the supplement, save the chasteberry.

I feel semi-strongly we should at least ask her OBGYN about this, I don't want her to take anything that might harm her in any way.

I think asking the OBGYN is definitely a good idea, especially since this stuff isn't regulated. It may be great, but I think it can't hurt to be cautious. Good luck with things! I know a lot of people that have had a lot of success with accupuncture in helping to conceive. A friend went through multiple rounds of IVF and was unable to conceive and her doctors started talking to her about adoption. I suggested she try accupuncture, she did and now has twins that are perfectly healthy! Good luck and I hope it all works out!

I'm sorry to hear your wife has PCOS, that is a painful condition and can complicate things for you. It sounds like you have lowered expectations and I understand that completely.

I am very happy with my OB-GYN, she has an interest in infertility and is assertive. I felt like my OB-GYN was invested in getting me pregnant and I listened to her. I was 34 when I first started going to her and she basically said, "You have no time to wait. You need to start trying to get pregnant now." She was right, it took a long time to get pregnant and we didn't have time to wait. I'll be 37 when I deliver this child.

We have friends who are taking a more casual approach and they are still TTC after 3 years. It takes a toll on people and I hope you explore all reasonable options with your wife and provide support to her, it's really a tough thing to go through if you really want kids. The fact that you are posting on here asking questions about it shows that you are invested in it. Good for you! Take care!

Whatever it is- b/c of the formula or if it's placebo but people believe it to work- it doesn't matter, right? B/c it works! Give it a try if you're looking to get pregnant....it certainly doesn't appear harmful.
