Anyone ever try to make their own bike jerseys? I thought it might be fun to have some more outrageous/creative jerseys... and the thought has crossed my mind to attempt making one. Anyone have any experience with this?

Wow... I definitely hadn't thought about it. I still wear t-shirts when I ride :D

I used to wear T's when I rode back in ohio... Where I live now is densely populated with cyclists and triathletes... Definitely frowned upon if you don't have the right gear. :)

Oh I totally get frowned upon by all the guys riding by in their full kits (there's plenty around my hood too). But I don't give a damn! :D

Kittycat would probably know something about stitching...even though her stock in trade is knitting.

Good lord I can't even hem my own pants let alone make a jersey. More power to you, let us know if you try it.

I make my own bike jerseys, swimsuits, tights... also make a lot of my SO's workout clothes. PM if you have questions :)

Not making one no, but have considered small order custom stuff.
Would there be sufficient people for a Slowtwitch "The Womens" bike jersey, for example?
Can make it as outragous/creative/stealthy as you want.
Have you had a look at Foska?

I need to talk Slowman into making swim caps that say FISHTWITCH for my virtual swim team :-)

Yes, but.
There are old ST jerserys, but I don't think slowman has any more of them. Not sure what the status is for new ST gear. Herbert might know.
There are also the Team Xantusia jerseys (actually, tri kit), but they are for team members only.

Which is probably a good thing considering the jersey design.

Yes, I've done it. It's fairly easy sewing I adapted a pattern from a t-shirt with zipper. The problem is th fabric. Firstly the fabric is hard to find. I assume you want some dry-weave type stuff in pretty, nifty or interesting patterns. I have only been able to find it in boring black, red and blue. Otherwise, it is difficult to work with, a lot like making a bathing suit. Also be certain that you buy a good poly-stretch thread. I've given it up given that I can't find any fabric to make any nicer than I can buy.
