2019 Race Schedule
Thanks all for the love in the weekly update thread. Some asked about race schedule. Here's a thread for everyone to post their planned races.

Here are my plans.

February 9: Tour of Palm Springs (not a race but a charity bike ride) (PAID)
May 11: Gulf Coast 70.3 (PAID)
June 1: Dirty Kanza gravel bike race (50 miler) * depending on if I get into the lottery
June 23: Chattanooga Waterfront Tri (PAID) [Athena National Championship]
August 4: Riverbluff Tri (the one I did this year on my birthday)
November: Will look into doing the Oilman race outside of Houston that I’d planned to do this year

I will also add in some 5K races and see if there are any local (TN/AL/KY) gravel bike races to use as training.

These are written on my whiteboard at work and at home.

Good grief, you ladies are on top of things! I want to do a half marathon in the spring and get back in triathlon shape for the summer, but I have barely put tentative dates in my calendar, let alone paid for things.

Go, womens!

I've only paid a deposit on one thing, the rest are tentative.

June 15 - Chinook triathlon; hubby might do this as a relay with some work colleagues and if he does, I'll tag along and do the olympic.
Aug 11 - Calgary 70.3; maybe I'll finally break 6 hours in a HIM. Who knows.
September (deposit paid and flights booked) - cycling through the Pyrenees from the Atlantic coast of France to the Med coast of Spain. So very excited about this one.

Y'all are on it.

I'm signed up for Oceanside in April and St. George in May. I haven't signed up for anything else but I'm poking around -- I'd like to do at least two other triathlons and the SBT Gravel race in Colorado this summer.

Not much firmly planned, but plenty of ideas.

December 15: Start 100/100 challenge as Turkeys on the Trail 10km run - woohoo!
January: Edmonton AB River Valley Revenge trail race (relay team Farty Owls) - paid
February: Victoria BC Hypothermic Half marathon - registering tomorrow
April, May: weekly 5-8km trail run series, spring edition - pay as you go
June: Canmore AB, Powderface Half Marathon trail race (paid)
July: volunteering at ITU Edmonton
August: Calgary, AB 70.3 (thinking seriously about it)
September: Swift Current, SK Beaver Flats 50km trail race
Sept-Oct: weekly trail run series, fall edition

Sprinkled in there will be some orienteering events and a couple of local tri events, plus there are some great cheap local road and trail runs that you just show up for and pay $15. I love the low-key events.

Here's my line up. I haven't registered for the national championships yet in part b/c I often find myself in the motivational toilet this time of year and signing up for lots of races well in advance is sometimes more stress-inducing to me than it is motivating. Do you ladies know if the oly AG Nat's tends to sell out early?

Jan 27, Lifetime Fitness indoor tri (repeat event for me)
Apr 13, Duathlon Nat's
May 19, American Zofingen long course (repeat)
Jun 9, Eagleman
Jul 7, Philly Women's tri (repeat)
Aug 10, AG Nat's
Sep 8, SOS

I'm off for 2 weeks over the end of the year and, as usual, have some work on my house planned. Historically this turns into me working very hard, almost around the clock, and not working out at all, which is going to compound my fitness drop from poor training adherance over the past 8-10 weeks.

Yesterday this idea hit me: I think I'll try for a short SBR every day for 10 days, at least as long as the Lifetime event intervals (10 min, 30 min, 20 min). I'm hoping my short and odd challenge will inspire me to get moving, particular for the swim/run.

That sounds awesome! You could even do like a "Twelve days of Tri-stmas" thing to make it holiday adjacent ;)

So, my already-amended calendar for the year...

No half on 2/3...apparently this event is a dumpster fire.
March 25th- Icicle Metric Century Wilmington, DE
April 6th- Tour de Cupcake Century Frederick, MD (I'm putting this on for my cycling club and if anyone wants to join me, let me know!)
April 7th- Cherry Blossom 10 Miler- I got in! Which means I'm probably doing two loops of the course as my final long run :p
April 27th- Ironman Texas Woodlands, TX
May 25th- Ft. Ritchie Swim Fest (OWS bonanza with three races totaling 4500m) Cascade, MD
Can't do the AFCC anymore on June 2nd, since my tri team is doing a mini-camp at the Eagleman venue
July 13th- Diamond in the Rough Oly tri Perryville, MD
August 25th- Ironman 70.3 Maine Old Orchard Beach, ME
September 2nd- Indian Head 100 Indian Head, MD
September 28th- Ironman Maryland Cambridge, MD
November 28th- Frederick Turkey Trot Frederick, MD

Yes, 12 days was the initial idea, but then I thought that might actually be even more difficult to achieve. Plus, as a fan of the metric system, 10 just makes sense.

Wow, Diamond in the Rough. That was one of my first races in 2003, after moving here (Philly) from Austin. Good to see it's still running.
I've also done Rev3 OOB / 70.3 ME. My friends have been doing that one for years, but with Rev3 exiting that space I'm unsure we'll have anyone there this year. Anyway, I hope you love it.

Yep! It's been taken over by Kinetic Multisport, which is the new brand name of Virginia/Maryland Triathlon Series. They've done a pretty good job of keeping many regional events alive.

I'm pretty excited about OOB. My husband lived in Portland for a decade before I stole him ;) We went up there this summer and I was able to ride my bike all around the area and it was fabulous. The local RD is still putting the race on, just under the Mdot name, and I think it will be fabulous.

You should totally do Calgary 70.3. Would it be your first 70.3?

Strictly speaking yes it's my first official IM 70.3 branded race although I have done half iron distance races before, and IM Canada twice. I'm terribly out of practice though.

I signed up last weekend and SO looking forward to it!
