You Can Play Auctioning off Boston Marathon Bib
Quote | Reply
You Can Play is partnering with the Boston Marathon to fight homophobia and transphobia in sport. As a charitable partner with the Boston Marathon and John Hancock You Can Play is looking to raise $15,000. You Can Play has received 3 marathon bibs and are looking to auction off our last bib to help us achieve our $15k goal.
As a member of the You Can Play team you will not have to take part in our crowdrise fundraiser https://www.crowdrise.com/...can-play-boston-2019 , but if you like we are able to assist you with a marathon training plan, raceday uniform, and any other marathon needs you may have before race day. Our staff includes a former NCAA division 1 runner, a current college xc coach, as well as a former experienced marathon, triathlon, and ironman coach.

You Can Play’s mission is that athletes should be given a fair opportunity to compete, and be judged by others only by what they contribute to the sport or their team’s success. We fight so athletes of all levels are judged solely on talent, heart, desire and work ethic -- and not on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Simply put, if you can play, you can play.
The You Can Play (YCP) model and messaging is not just directed to those who qualify as LGBTQ, but those around them - we work with teammates, coaches, families, fans, and communities without judgement or assumption. Changing the experience of the LGBTQ community is not just about changing their own internal willingness to be their true authentic selves, but increasing acceptance from the world around them. In this spirit YCP has worked with thousands of athletes with over 5 million fans attending YCP powered campaigns.
