Ironman for Haiti

My friend Ora is doing IM Lake Tahoe in a few weeks, and raising money to help fund an HIV and TB clinic in Haiti

A little history...
I met Ora during her Med/Peds residency in Phoenix I think in 2006â¦she knew I had done Ironman and asked me about it, and she thought, "If this old guy can do an Ironman, then so can I". She did 5 IM races during residency, before going off to specialize in Adult Pulmonary/Critical Care in SF.
In 2010, she signed up to go on a medical mission to Haiti after the earthquake. We trained together a lot, so she mentioned it and I signed up. A lot of the medical missions stayed in nice hotels and went to work every day. We pitched tents on top of the police station overlooking the tent city that had emerged in front of the collapsed capital building. Quite an experience, but I have not been back.
On the other hand, Ora has been back multiple times per year. She works with and substitutes for Dr Megan Coffee, who runs the TiKay foundation for treatment of patients with TB and HIV http://www.tikayhaiti.org/
Ora is using Ironman Lake Tahoe as a way to raise money for a great cause, but she also gives her own personal and vacation time to this cause. I didnât think she would post this here, so I am doing it on her behalf. For what we all spend on tri stuff, a $10 or $20 (or more!) contribution does not seem like much to ask.
