The 2013 ITU Duathlon World Championships will be held in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, on August 8 to 10, 2013. Qualified men and women from 43 countries will compete in the Elite U23, Elite Junior, Age Group (18-70+) and Paraduathlon races, as a part of the World Games. The ITU Duathlon World Championship course has both a standard (10km run, 40km cycle, 5km run) and sprint (5km run, 20km cycle, 2.5km run) distance during which, participants will get to experience a one-of-a-kind urban course located in the city of Ottawa.

Open to the general public, the Sens Shuffle, a 5km charity run in support of the Sens Foundation, will be held on Saturday, August 10, as part of the race weekend taking place in Ottawa from August 8 to 10. $6 of the $55 race entry will support the Sens Foundation, whose aim is to raise funds in communities throughout eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Monies raised will focus on providing social recreation and education programs and facilities that promote physical and mental wellness. In addition, racers are encouraged to collect pledges of which 100% of the donation will go to the Sens Foundation.

The ITU has also partnered with Ottawa Tourism and TrojanOne Ltd. to create an open sprint distance duathlon race. The open races will take place on Aug. 10, 2013 alongside the championship course. Interested participants are encouraged to register before August 7.

Starting at the Canadian War Museum and moving down the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway along the Ottawa River, competitors will enjoy the picturesque views and city landmarks throughout the Ottawa downtown core. The course invites the residents of the city of Ottawa to view the race from a variety of vantage points, with spectators ranging from triathlon, duathlon, running, cycling athletes and enthusiasts to community members and the general public.
