UK expels 23 Russians

I doubt this will have any measurable impact on Russian behavior, but it seems to be a fairly quick and decisive action from the UK. We'll see if it's accompanied by any financial sanctions, expulsion of Russian media, etc.

It will be completely ineffective

The UK is already marginalised within the EU and with respect to Russia specifically, the US

The Russians will throw 23 of ours out

If we get in to a cyber war with them which has been threatened we lose

The Russians have demonstrated that they can act with impunity on foreign soil

Whilst eastern European countries have justifiable concerns over their borders and know Germany is not going to help

The Germans also know that they can put the boot in to us about brexit and the UK will still maintain a heavy presence on the eastern front

The whole thing is a shit show

Putin is a dangerous man

It's not really a very strong approach but realistic given they don't have a lot of power against Russia.

They're certainly not going to threaten England's involvement in the World Cup, that would be going to far so they took the symbolic stance of banning British Ministers and the Royal family from attending the games.

Russia's just being Russia though. Trump and his supporters seem okay with their involvement in the U.S elections but not everyone is going to keep letting them get away with things. It's nice to see Britain taking a stand though.

Interesting developments. While Russia seems to be pushing the envelope what is stopping them from pushing farther? No single country has the wherewithal to do much about it. Especially if help from a traditional partner (aka, the US) is lacking.

I read that the Brits already decided NOT to send any official representatives to the World Cup in Russia (Brits didn't qualify anyways, so pretty toothless).

I am more interested why they tried to Off him now, as he was living in the UK since 2010 under his own name.
Something must have come up that made him a threat.

There are repeated reports of Russia partially being successful in hacking into the Intelligence Networks of Western European countries.
Some maybe more aware of it than others, but Cyber-war is already in full swing.

Which offers the interesting theory that Russia recently got hold on what he actually told the West.

It’s definitely war talk here, this isn’t the kind of rhetoric we’ve seen in a long while. Perhaps this lack of diplomacy is a disease the whole world is catching, but I hope not.

People have been all happy clappy about Russia for too long - it’s a criminal state - and it’s about time we told them to go fuck themselves.

Although this is a little weak imo:

England did qualify for the World Cup.
