Most powerful thing you’ve operated

I’ll lose this on by a country mile, but it’s a fun topic.

Not really powerful in terms or raw HP, but things that give me that Tool Time Tim adrenaline rush…

  • My 2016 HD Softail Slim S. Fire breathing sex beast on wheels.

  • Stihl industrial grade chainsaw with 3’ bar for grand tree removal. I miss that thing, might buy one just to scare the kids.

  • technical rescue response truck from my EMS days. Required a CDL (oops) and felt like navigating an aircraft carrier down the highway. Boss.

Now go ahead and put me in the kiddie play area with your fighter planes, Abrams tanks, and cigarette boats, you one-upping fucks.

Unfortunately, in my military career I only got to personally operate HMMWV, 2.5 and 5 ton trucks.

Prior to joining the military I drove a Cat 988 front end loader with a 25 yard bucket (not pictured). Used to feed hog fuel into power plant boilers. I was 18/19 years old and should NOT have been given that type of vehicle to drive. I had a shit ton of fun driving them. And little known fact, with the bucket empty and at the right angle, you could pop a wheelie and hold it for about 20 feet before crashing down to earth.

Everyone else showed up with photographic evidence.

I would show you, but I don’t think Dan would appreciate a photograph of my penis on this board.

I’ve operated a lot of boats. 11 foot Whaler up to a 42 Midnight and larger yachts and dive boats. I once drove a tug boat in Queensland, Australia, so that was probably the most ‘powerful.’

I once drove a small single turbo MkIV Supra. Only 500-600hp. Had the heaviest clutch I’ve ever used. Like all Supras, it probably ran 12s. REALLY fast on the highway though…

Here’s a picture of one if no one knows what one looks like. Yes, the car I drove was white too.

Mine. 530 AWHP (not those bullshit crank numbers) with a gutted interior, so, it has no weight.

Nice! I got carted around in a couple tanks in the Gulf, but, they never let me operate them … which was probably a good idea …

Hmmm…I’ll kick in with the 2011 Triumph Sprint GT - traded in my '08 Sprint ST the day after Christmas. It was freaky warm here, warm enough to ride the '08 north into WI to close the deal. Only ride so far was the ride home, but I’m looking forward to spring very much.

In HS, me and a couple friends got jobs installing an irrigation system on a golf course, and for some reason I was elected to operate the trencher. Looked quite a bit like this, but the early '80’s version.

Caterpillar 797B, payload is 400 tons, usually tried for 420 tons per load. That was a fun summer internship.

ETA: A gross 3,550 hp… capable of 42mph with a full payload.

I used to have a pet ex-racehorse. He was bred for speed not sanity - lots of stake winners.

If they have multiple personalities do the get multiple horsepower?

He was pretty awesome jumping over big things- but if he stubbed his toe it was going down.

Fun thread.

Dodge Viper circa 2001, that was badass. Always been my favorite car.

Frontloader and skidsteers when I worked landscaping after college were fun.

My '94 Honda Civic did have VTEC

Does a .50 cal count?

Midnight Express? Very nice…

I’ll go with boat also. Current one is fun, 26ft Boston Whaler with 2x 225 outboards.

Most powerful is probably a 67’ motor yacht with twin Cat turbo diesels.

I did some work as a trashman in high school and drove the truck around some when I needed.
