Hi All;

I find myself in need of a career change. I have a B.S. from The University of Kansas in History and Journalism:Strategic Communications, I was also a student athlete there. I've been involved in the triathlon industry since I was 14 at all levels from junior to elite to employee to business owner. Professionally I've been involved in event planning and promotions, sponsorships, business development, sales, customer service, brand managment and marketing. I live in the Denver area and would really like to stay here. PM me if you would like a copy of my resume and I'll get it right over to you. Thank you.

Sincerely
T.B.

Haven't see anyone in particular to reply to, so I'll just add that I semi-regularly have a bit of part time programming work here on ST. We pay competitively, I think, and I hope those few STers who I've given some gigs to in the past have enjoyed the experience.

Right now, I'd be most interested in hiring someone with extensive experience with facebook integration. Especially the Facebook API, SDK, and OpenGraph protocols.

I'd also be somewhat interested in someone with pretty sound PHP experience for a little bit of work, though it's probably not a ton of work.

Would also entertain applications from iPhone/Android developers, but you better be REALLY f'ing good.

We - slowtwitch - also end up with semi-regular requests from our advertisers for graphic designers. So if you're good with Flash or other graphics tools, send me your info and some samples. That way, next time one of our smaller advertisers wants to do a new ad, we can throw your name in the ring.

Rappstar - who manages your online advertising? Do you work directly with the advertisers to have their ads on the site or work with agencies? I work for a website and manage their advertising operations team, so i'm naturally curious on how you guys your monitize the site. I'm sure you guys get a good amount of traffic. We also regularly use facebook to promote our content - 'like' system, activity feed, recommendations feed, etc. I think it would be great to help out a site that I regularly use and visit.

We manage it in-house. We do farm-out a percentage of the top 720x90 banner to Brash/Sportgenic. But less and less.

Herbert manages the Facebook part.

But we're certainly open to hearing from someone with expertise - herbert@slowtwitch.com & rappstar@slowtwitch.com

My fellow STers--

I am about to step off the precipice and graduate from the University of Maine School of Law in May. I am extremely dedicated, evidenced by my strenuous four-year path to my degree.

While in school, I have maintained at minimum 30 hours a week of work, with the majority of them spent as a department and operations manager for a large specialty sporting-goods retailer in Boston. I like to stay busy.

I am currently gaining litigation experience via a trial practice course. I also have interests in land use, corporate, and insurance law. Looking for an entry-level associate position, whether with a firm or as an in-house attorney.

I am willing to re-locate. I would prefer to stay in New England; however, I am not finding this to be practicable. I can supply a resume, cover letter, and writing sample upon request.

Thanks for your time.
--Ryan

I subscribe to a newsletter from OSE Productions: http://oseproductions.com/newsletter.html

I don't work for them, nor is it a MLM.

They have the best athletic/sports/apparel job list I've ever seen. The current newsletter has jobs with Clif Bar, Competitor, Ultramax, Pearl Izumi and many national level companies.

The current newsletter isn't listed on the site. It's easy to sign up for on the link above. It seems that link is a couple of weeks behind.

Good luck!

Mark

Edit: if anyone wants me to email the OSE newsletter to them, PM me.

Rappstar, if you want me to copy and post the newsletter here, let me know. I don't want to violate forum rules I am not associated with the newsletter but the jobs they have are incredible.

What a group...

I am a controller in Chicago looking for a position - my company can't seem to shake the malaise of this economy and is going out of business at the end of the year. I live in the city but am open to anything in the Chicagoland area. I have experience in manufacturing, distribution, and retail at companies ranging from global industrial to small, privately held. I have an MBA and great professional references. Thanks for any ideas, connections, etc. I'll have plenty of time to train but I really need to be working....PM or call (630) 930-7030. Mike

I am looking to fill a number of seasonal positions in my restaurant at Big White Ski resort, a busy resort in the interior of BC.

Positions range from sous-chef to dishwasher, as well as servers and bartenders. Accomodation may be available. Canadian work permit is required. Positons begin mid November and finish mid April.

Wow, I have not skied at Big White yet, but now that I know a fellow triathlete runs a restaurant there, I will have to make my way up there.

Since I work as a Career Coach, I was hoping to provide some assistance/guidance to those here looking for work.

1.If you are applying to medium or large companies, you can be pretty sure that your resume is captured by an Applicant Tracking System. Therefore, the initial filtering is done based on keywords found in the Job Description.

Before you submit your resume, take a look at the Job Description, select the keywords in that description, and search your own resume for those keywords. If they are not there, put them in, obviously if you have these skills.

If your resume does not have those keywords, it may not even show up.

2. Often, the initial review of the resume is done by a junior HR person if it is a larger company or organization.

They typically do not have direct experience in the areas for which they are screening, so again, the reliance on keywords. All the major elements that make a successful employee, that is, drive, perseverance, creativity, soft skills etc. don't show up in this kind of screening/filtering.

3. LinkedIn is the best Job Search tool there is and it is free. Build your network within the industry that you wish to be in. An easy way to do this is to join groups of interest. When you are a member of such a group, you can send a LinkedIn invite to fellow group members without having their email address. On LinkedIn, visibility equals opportunity. Many recruiters search LinkedIn. The more you are networked within your industry, the better chance you have of coming across their radar.

See our site at http://www.careerjoy.com for all kinds of free content and webinars.

All the best
