I'm looking for a bike rack for my 2004 Passat Wagon with the raised roof rails that run the length of the roof (similar to some audis and subarus I have seen). Thule and Yakima both make what I am looking for but they are VERY expensive for a perosn of my financial means.

My car has no factory crossbars so I need 'feet' that attach to the rails, crossbars, and the actual bike holder (or two). I'd prefer to buy it all in one piece but what I really need are the feet. I have looked on eBay but everyone there wants near retail for their used stuff so I thought I'd try here.
