SOLD

For sale is a 1999 55 cm Merlin Aerial time trial bike. This bike was developed after QR (Saucony) purchased Merlin and Real Design and was a collaboration between Dan Empfield and Tom Kellogg. It has the winning QR geometry and the famous, seamless 3/2.5 Ti Merlin Road tube set.

The original retail on the frame alone was $2200 & a "new" 1997 frame only is being offered by RA for $800 at http://www.racycles.com/...l97-idv-6028-84.html

I'm selling the complete bike-- 9-speed DuraAce Mix version for $700 shipped or best offer. Paypal is preferred

I have set several regional overall and bike course records (:54- :56 40K splits on this bike (I had the fastest bike split for 40-44 men @ 2004 nationals) and when not racing this bike is stored indoors. Check out the minimal frontal area picture below!

Specs
* 55 cm Merlin Aerial 3/2.5 Ti frame
* QR CarbonAero carbon fork
* Syntace base & C2 (medium) clipon aerobars
* Diacompe aero levers
* FSA orbit headset
* Stronglight Speedlight forged crank (55 / 42)
* Dura-Ace (square taper) bottom bracket
* Dura-Ace chain
* Dura-Ace Front Der.
* Dura-Ace Rear Der (11 x 21; 9 speed)
* Dura-Ace bar end shifters
* 650c Sun Mistral Front wheel (new Conti clincher tire)
* 650c Velocity Deep V Rear wheel (new Conti clincher tire)
* Selle San Marco Pirrelli Saddle (have about 5 others if you would like to switch-- including Fisik Arione (original, not the tri)
* no pedals (have an older set of speedplays if no pedals is a deal breaker)

Size Note
This bike is designed with the FIST setup so that you have a low front end, flat back and right angles on your elbows and shoulders. This geometry has a relatively short top tube (53 cm on this bike). I ride a 56 cm road bike and this bike fits perfectly in the aero position. I rode IMH in the aerobars the entire race (except from the short climb from the pier to the Queen K).
