"Tentative" Scam Alert - User Garagebos57
Quote | Reply
This guy sent me a PM regarding a WTB I posted yesterday. He emailed me some pictures, we agreed on a price just for him to try to pull a fast one on me.

He insisted on getting paid thru Paypal Friends & family despite me wanting to cover the fees. Guy said he's from Alaska.

The email address from which he sent the pictures and the PayPal one are different which raised a flag along with the poor grammar throughout the messages he sent me.

"Thanks for the address.
I will forward you details once it’s out to your address.

Here is my PayPal email address:
xxxxx@gmail.com

Send money through PayPal friends and family.
Let me know once payment has been sent to my account.
Await your payment."

"Thanks, but I’ll prefer friends and family.
I think I’ve be honest enough to cut down to the price that is quite favourable for you.

I’m sorry but if it can’t be sent that way"

Buyer beware

Yes, if you search this users name on Slowtwitch you'll see they've been flagged as a potential spammer. They have a few replies all about Garmin watches this year, but it could be to just beef up their numbers. Here's their replies >>> Slowtwitch Forums: Search results

Below is the post about them being on the Beware list.
Beware of those who answer your Want To Buy ads: Classifieds: Slowtwitch Forums

Always due your due diligence. It only takes a few minutes using the search key and looking at their profile. Good job only wanting to pay for goods and services for the added protection. If they refuse, that's a good indication right there something isn't right.

Oh boy!! I didn't know such a list existed. I don't understand why is someone like this still in here. Can't the admins just straight ban him?

It looks like it's not his first attempt, he fooled quite a few Slowtwitchers already.

I checked the profile (and always do), seemed ok, few posts and created in 2020.

He/she/they/it--whatever pronouns, now spell G-O-N-E.

And now we wait for whatever the next username from them is.

Always use secure payment methods when buying from strangers over the internet.
Nothing to add really...
