Californiaman swim is advertised as 63 degrees surface temperature - 2 inches below the water that lake can be COLD! Especially to those who live up Folsom way, by May 22nd, how cold will the lake really feel? Like Alcatraz? Will I be frozen after a slow full ironman swim? In the summer the air temperature and water temperature really heats up - but May 22nd - will the summer heat be in effect and effect the swim? /bike?/ run? Do you think a neoprene cap would be a good idea? Gloves? Socks? (are diving - or whatever - gloves and/or socks legal?).

I'll report in 3 weeks as a bunch of us will be doing a sprint race up there in the lake. I understand that they've moved the swim to a less cold part of the lake.

I doubt it will be as cold as Alcatraz.
Gloves are usually prohibited and booties will slow you down.
The neoprene hat is the ticket.
