What is a normal or reasonable severance package? Do most companies give 2 weeks' pay? 2 months? Extended benefits? I have no idea.

For a severance package, when I was laid off from a mid-sized telecom company about four years ago I got two weeks salary plus two weeks for every year I'd been there. I'd been there five years. My medical benefits also ran as long as my severance. Also got paid for all my unused vacation (about three weeks).

Fortunately, I found a nice job in about four weeks so I got double pay for a while.
