I thought about offering up my Trek 470. It's probably a 45 cm road bike, but I can't give it up. I've raced the hell out of it and still adore it even though it lives on my trainer now. Still has the original saddle, which i like more than my fancier tri bike saddle.

I've seen this same bike on ebay and craig's list, though. It was a 1999 or 1998 model. They came really small but with 700 wheels. The geometry is strange, but I can tell you that they can be decently fast. You might want to see if you can find one of these on ebay. I did have the brake levers 'rigged' so that the reach wasn't so far. I think my LBS put a stopper in them somehow, but there is a photo on here (http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=722121;search_string=brake%20lever;#722121) of my tri bike with the same adjustment.

Good luck... I know that it is not easy to find what you are looking for. Just make sure that your kid actually fits on the bike. I saw a dad trying to get his kid to fit on a way-too-big fuji the other day, and it scared the crap outta me to try to watch the kid ride it.

I've tried to locate a childs road bike also.

When I was about 10 - 12 yrs old I had a Fuji road bike. It was a ten speed, pretty sure. That would have been around 1974-76.

I have searched the internet made calls and even found one in a bike shop in Jacksonville Beach Fl....he referred to it as a mini racer or mini road bike. It was not a Fuji and I don't recall who made it, it's been some time.

My Fuji was stolen out of our back yard as a child never to be seen again.

My two cents / Good luck.

Louis Garneau and Argon18 also make little road bikes for kids (and Austin79), as does Trek.

What size road shoe does your child wear? I have a pair of women's size 4 (EURO 34.5) Nike road cycling shoes that I got on sale once but never use. They are navy blue with light blue accents and yellow/green Nike swooshes. I used them for mtn biking a few times, though. If the size is right, I will send to you for free if you are willing to pay the postage. Let me know!

I have a bike my son used when he was around 5'1 - 5'5'. Not real high end, but has aero bar with shifters mounted on aero bar. If you want more info, pm your email. I have some road shoes 36.5 as well.
