Ironman 70.3 Tasmania (or, Jake Birtwhistle's 70.3 debut)

Anybody else following the race? Jake swa with Amberger and rode in the front pack. He is currently in second place on the run, chasing down Caleb Noble, he is 33 seconds back at the 11.7Km mark, and he is running a bit faster than Noble for now.

Amberger placed 4th and looks like Salthouse will win. Good stuff.

Looks to have been a fairly solid first outing for Jake at the distance. Nearly 6 min ahead of Amberger, and seemed to keep to his race plan on the run even when it looks like Noble charged out of T2 and built up a lead.

The story from the athletes out there today is that Jake called into the portaloos early on the run meaning he may not really have been sticking to a race plan and pace, just needed a leak.

The fact that they can have this race, including a PRO field, in a location so desolate that nobody outside of Oz and NZ will care to visit speaks to the significance of Australia on the global triathlon scene.

The country has had better and worse years but boy, do they still matter.
