I had one.
It was the stupidest, most selfish decision of my life. I am forever grateful that my wife gave me another chance. The years after, trying to rebuild trust and a destroyed relationship were incredibly hard on everybody affected. And it did take years to come back from.
The only positive to take out of the experience is that both my wife and I agree that it was an unfortunate catalyst for change in our relationship. We were in a pretty dark place, and probably would have ended up continually drifting apart until we divorced. We are in a much, much better place now. We communicate so much better; everything about our relationship is better that it was before. There's an honesty and vulnerability in our relationship that just did not exist beforehand.
Long Chile was a silly place.
