Some info below from reynolds:

The 90mm deep rims are about as deep as you can find. The deeper the rim gets, the more aero it is in either no wind or a straight headwind. And the faster you go, the more the depth will make an impact. This is all good. But there's a limit. Disc wheels are heavy, which makes them hard to accelerate, they don't absorb road bumps well, and they are hard to handle in crosswinds.

By having spokes, several of these issues go away. The wheel is lighter, so it's easier to accelerate. The spokes also help absorb the impact bumps and potholes and rough surfaces. The last thing are crosswinds. This issue is actually amongst the first issues wheel designers have to tackle. Reynolds attacks the problem with a unique rim profile, which includes their DET, Dispersive Effect Termination, technology. DET is Reynolds way of smoothing turbulent air and reattaching it to the surface of the rim. This helps not only going fast into no wind, but dealing with crosswinds, reducing torque on the handlebars and thus making it easier to steer when the wind is coming from the sides.

Reynolds has taken great care to maximize the strength of their rims while minimizing weight. They developed CR6 technology, aka Carbon Rim 6, to highlight the fact that they utilize different carbon-fiber plies and lay-up schedules to six different regions of the rim to optimize strength and minimize weight. Those regions are: the rim hook bead, the brake track, the tire channel, the side wall, nipple bed, and spoke face. These wheels are tough.

And they stop well. Thanks to designing the brake track and the brake pads as a system, they stop in the wet and the dry, and they don't heat up. They can run up to 53% cooler than their competitors' rims. It's called CTg, Cryogenic Glass Transition, and it ensures consistent performance regardless o the conditions. Always use Reynolds Cryo-Blue pads, both for maximizing performance and complying with the warranty. The brake track also has a hidden wear indicator, a red line on the brake track by the valve, which appears after a layer of carbon gets worn away and before the rim walls become dangerously thin.

The sixteen radially-laced DT Aerolite front spokes are strong enough to keep the rim straight and true, but few enough and aero enough to barely register against the wind.
