Meh, I mean she comes from a ITU background, so shouldn't be all that bad. And if it was a target of hers, Eric can ride the sh*t out of a bike and could see her doing well. Think the bigger thing is being a "solo" rider, having to cover a lot of the moves and just hoping one of them actually works. With that, think the tactics and ability to "see" the race may outweigh your handling skills on a non-technical course....
Either way, great to see her step on the top step of a Nat'l TT podium!
Will be great to see her race in Edmonton in a months time!
She's signed up for the road race, but the biggest thing here is risk versus reward. It'd be really fun to do and see how she does (breakaway would definitely be a goal) but with $1million on the line at the Canadian Open in 4 weeks, any sort of crash that threw off training could be super detrimental. She hasn't made the final decision yet, but we're leaning towards sitting it out.
How do points/races work for something like that? As a curiosity from an outsider/nobody.
As in, I understand maybe getting the invite for TT nationals as it isn't mass start. But how do folks get invites for the mass start elite stuff? Are they doing just enough elite road races or crits in a year to maintain the license or invite and we just don't hear about those events? I don't understand the logistics of that. Or did they race earlier in life before tri and they keep up the invite as long as the national level results continue?
I just imagine the invite isn't that simple for single sport cyclists and bike teams fighting tooth and nail for points.
