Watched Tick, Tick... Boom! on Netflix last night - not directly about Sondheim, but important crossover/influence for Jonathan Larson (Rent). Amazing how much an influence Sondheim had.

MIL has been going off all day how West Side Story was such an "awful" portrayal of New York City, and if they were going to retell Romeo and Juliet, why did "they" make it about "those people"
The only positive thing she said about Sondheim was that "he studied under Oscar Hammerstein, who was an excellent playwright"
