Any nephrologists out there?! My next appointment with my nephrologist is in a few months, so I thought I'd ask my question here in the meantime.
I'm 57 and I have stage 3 kidney disease (GFR around 51). I no longer do triathlons, but I do cycling time trials that last 20-55 min depending on the race. I feel like I train in the heat in a similar fashion to those I race with, but I seem to be effected more from the heat. I lose about 8-11% of the power that I would normally produce in lower temps (65 F vs 80+ F).
My questions are - could my CKD be causing a greater performance drop in heat, and am I damaging my kidneys more by exposing them to this high heat stress?
