thanks! How are your flip turns?
Thanks for asking.
I think I have....erm….hit a wall.
The actual FT are ok, but the breathing inbetween turns is laboured, because of the breathless 4-5sec at the wall.
I'm not convinced that I will be faster with FT than I am with OT.
But I will do FT on all WU/CD swimming (which is a lot for me), and maybe some OT otherwise.
I will go INSANE if all I ever do is FT during this period of learning.
hit a wall, heh heh
I wish you lived near me so I could help with this. In terms of the breathless time on the wall, make sure to exhale as you are turning. Then when you have the first stroke that you breathe on, you only have to breathe in, rather than exhaling, then breathing.
The other thing with flip turns is to do them on fast swimming. I get more out of breath on turns when I am swimming slower because the turn takes longer, and it takes longer to get in and out of the wall. So I would practice them on your faster sets if you are going to do a mix.
Good flip turns WILL be faster than OT, it just takes time and practice!

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
